Originally posted by story Actually many websites I have read said that's the retail from Cingular.. BTW, does Cingular lock their phones to their Network only? (I am new to Cingular) |

Originally posted by microchip13 I've heard that Cingular has exclusive rights for the s710a until 2005. Which is the end of the year, I am sure it will be released before January 1st 2005. However, I am curious, those people who are saying it will come out in '05, why(why is it coming out then) has it encountered any issues? |

Originally posted by DaleJr#8 oh really? so then why is it that my most recent 6620 that I recieved recently as a Lock Line replacement phone also works with an AT&T SIM card? I suppose that doesnt mean anything either?

Originally posted by DaleJr#8 whatever... so I suppose that my local corp store's manager's 6620 (that he just recieved YESTERDAY) is also SIM locked, right? again, BS because we tried my AT&T SIM in his as well and guess what? IT ISNT LOCKED! oh gee, now lemme guess. his phone is also a phone that was produced months ago, right? whatever... ![]() I think I'll take both my personal experiences and my local store's manager's 6620 phone sixteen times over what you have to say. |

Originally posted by CingularWRX actually they are right. All new phones will/are SIM locked. The 6620 and 6230 were some of the last phones NOT to be locked. Nokia did not change them, but moto and the rest of the manufactureres did. We even have new part numbers for them (i.e. v400 has changed its oracle number). I have not heard if the 6620's will be coming locked in the future, but as of now they are not. All moto, samsung, sony, LG, seiemens, etc WILL be locked |

Originally posted by Atlmalta Thank You! someone on here knows what they are talking about... DaleJr, do you still believe your store manager or do you need more people to tell you that your wrong? |

Originally posted by microchip13 Just called a store, pretty sure I got the manager, she said that she wasn't sure exactly when it would be released, but she knew that a new shipment of phones were coming in the last week of december, which unfortunatly, points to January 1st, however, also note that the last week is not too far behind from december, for a while the phone may be web only, I do have a strong feeling that it will be released on the 15th but possibly in short supply with the full load of the phones being shipped to stores about 2 weeks later, which I think seems about average for stores to get new phones in their hands(Note I think, not sure how it usually works) |
|
Originally posted by microchip13 thanks for clarifying that, well, then we're looking at a release date sometime before christmas, the store that I mentioned in my post was a very small store, so afterwards I called one of the more major stores(it's always packed) and got this "Sometime before christmas." I'm happy. As mentioned before, cingular will not miss out on exclusive rights or the holday rush. It will be out before the 25th of december. |

CS reps have absolutely no information as to the actual release dates on phones.

Cingular: Sony Ericsson S710a (Cingular swears the S710a will be available this month, however in the event it is not, the Nokia 7610, a megapixel smartphone, is available for Cingular through Nokia USA and should be in Cingular stores as well.) |

Originally posted by SE Aholic The phone currently is expected to get Technical Approval no earlier then the 17th of December and at the absolute earliest be available for distribution from the DC on the 24th of December. That is all if everything gets resolved in a timely and satisfactory matter for approval. Remeber the Z500a just got approved and that was suppose to be out the beginning of November originally. I would imagine it wont be out now tell after the 1st of the year. |

Originally posted by hatoncat It shouldn't matter how slow the menus are at release, the S710a will work with Online Update, so you can just drop the phone into a DSS-20 or DSS-25 and update it automatically. I'm sure Cingular wants it to be as bug free as possible at release, but when push comes to shove... Cingular will push the Online Update option rather than hold up its release past the point of exclusivity. |
