Interesting mod from MashMods. Gives you original N-Gage owners the ability to hot-swap MMC cards. Food for thought.

That's what I didn't like about it. Makes sense in theory though, since it's just effectively a pin-extender. A nicer mod would be to put a door/flap over it.

well that will require moddingn the ngage which i dont think i would do...the usb data cable is fine seriously =P

I don't think I like it at all. Something like this would definately void the warranty, and what if you use more than one housing?

Nice idea, but i never switch MMC's. I got a high capacity one (1GB)

Who ever would go through with this mod doesn't really care about their n-gage. I mean ask your self. Is it really worth destroying the n-gages image to do this just because you don't want to open it up?

Hi,
I saw this post and had a couple of questions:
1) Is this site legit? Has anyone used them?
2) Why would it void your warrenty? All you need to do is pick up a second n-gage backing if you needed to send it in for repair. With another (unmodified) backing noone would know if you were using this mod or not.
3) I didn't understand the statement about using the USB cable as opposed to the mod. My understanding is the mod allows you hot-swap the MMC card without removing the battery, like the QD. How does the USB cable alone solve that problem?

the usb cable permits u to access your mmc contents without actually putting your mmc into a mmc reader...

1) I think it is legit, cause the phone is your property and its not like you're putting a bomb in it.

2) Ase you can see in a picture on that site, there is also a cable connected from the phone to the cover. So thats why you lose your warranty.

oh yeah, its much easier to just buy a 1GB MMC and put all your games on that. Who needs hot-swap?

Sorry but still not following you. How would you be able to access the MMC content without using an MMC reader? Don't under stand how the USB cable helps. It just connects the N-Gage to the PC right?

Yeah, that would help. So, I can access the MMC card via the computer and I'm guessing the computer's MMC card reader. Great than all I have to do is carry around my N-Gage and my computer. I think I'll try the mashmod solution. I've got a case so I'm not worried about a problem with MMC being on the outside but I would like to hot-swap without removing the battery or carrying around a computer

Ok, when you change the MMC via the Mashmod method you will have to reboot your N-Gage so it recognizes the new MMC. Or you connect you N-Gage to your pc via USB and switch the cards, then unplug the USB cable and the N-Gage will recognize the MMC witout rebooting. So its just if you have to or dont have to reboot.

And buying a 1GB MMC is much cheaper then buying all those games. And you dont need to swap cards.

Actully your post was pretty informative and less cryptic then Angel's. I thought about the 1GB MMC but didn't know the N-Gage would support it. The only other problem is getting the copy protected games copied over to the 1GB MMC. They seem to be running around $80 on ebay. Do all 1GB MMC's work?
