I just recently received a 7280 from work and I was trying to install the software upgrade so I downloaded it from the Rogers website after installing the software off the CD. It installs fine no problem....but when i open up the program (desktop manager) and plug in my BB a message pops up saying "Handheld Tools RimDeviceManager has encountered a problem and needs to close we are sorry for the inconvenience". Its one those stupid windows pop-ups that ask if you want to send them a report or not. It happens everytime!....I've uninstalling and re-installing many times....I've tried it on numerous different computers same thing.....any ideas?

You're probably running WinXP SP2
Install DM -> choose not to launch (doesn't really matter if you do), just file/exit if it's running.
start->run->cmd
c:\windows\system32
regsvr32 atl.dll
--
Try that first I'll let you know what to do if that doesn't work

yes I am running Windows XP SP2...I just tried what you said it gave me a message that said "DllRegisterServer in atl.dll succeeded" after click OK....I tried running DM....but getting the same problem.

well now that I found a non Windows XP SP2 computer my original proplem has seemed to dissapear....but now I have encountered a new one. When I plug in the data cable the DM recognizes it without issue and it says its connected....so then I open the Application Loader and it when it gets to the point where it is suppose to connect to the device...it just says "connecting" and nothing happens....any ideas??....I just want the new updated software so I can use HTML lol.
