Is there a registry editor that will work on WM 2003 SE (MPx220) without crashing? I'm using the PMH editor v 0.70, and sometimes it works, usually it crashes within seconds of starting.

My MPs220 has the 1.300 ROM and works well otherwise.

Make sure you close down all other applications first with task manager and see if that helps.

I think it's an incompatability with the MPx220. That app only closes abruptly on the MPx220 (at least all three that I've had with varying ROM versions).

For whatever reason, it seems to work better on my Mpx220 when I have lots of apps running. Also, it never stays up if the phone was recently rebooted. Kind of the opposite of every other application.

It is erratic, and it keep closing abruptly, but I still have been able to activate ClearType and use it....just have to be patient.

I've experienced the erratic shutdown with just a handful of applications. One of them, DeveloperOne Power Calendar, has recently been fixed so that it no longer shuts down without warning. PHM Registry Editor, however, is a couple of years old and hasn't been updated in quite a while. I'm not sure anything can be done to stop it from crashing.

I haven't found another registry editor which runs on the Smartphone, but take a look at http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/f...pic.php?p=46157 - This is a discussion on SmartPhone Thoughts about a great PC-based tweak utility, which includes a full registry editor.

Basically, run this program while your phone is connected via ActiveSync and you'll be able to view info about the device, run through some pre-defined tweaks, and edit within the registry. Much more convenient than using the phone-based interface!

I'm assuming that the bug with Registry Editor is the same that was in a previous releasae of Power Calendar. If that's the case, I think the Developer One folks figured out that it wasn't the MPx220 itself, but the operating system (WM2003SE)

But it doesn't happen on the Audiovox SMT5600 which also runs WM2003SE.

Used PHM. It would close unexpectedly after several seconds. Very, very irritating--especially when you're right in the middle of an edit. Now using Smartione. It's much better if only because you use it from your PC.
