can someone esplain to me what cleartype is and what it would do for me.

should i enable it?

It's actually a feature they brought from windows for LCD screens. It's supposed to make the text smoother looking on the screen. I think it makes the text look like crap honestly. I don't use it...

Just try it out and see if you like it...

To each his own. I like it way better than the dotty alternative.

Do a Google search for ClearType, there are several sites out there that do a side by side comparison.

OTOH, enable it, turn the phone off and on, see if you like it. Look at pages with lists on it, like resource manager (system info). If you do not like it, turn it off. Just a matter of entering a 1 or a 0 (on the MPx220, the 5600 has an option, as I recall).

I do not have the smt5600 with me, when I got my MPx220 I passed it to someone else. I am pretty sure that it was under Settings, but someone here can tell you.
On the MPx220, use a registry editor,
go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE (enter)
Control Panel (enter)
MainLCD (enter)
push Values on the lower left
Clear Type appears, (enter)
Change value date with the arrows from 0 to 1
press Done
exit all the way out.
I think you restart (turn off and on)

start > settings > more > more > phone settings > scroll down to clear type font > turn it on

For some reason, this sequence is missing from the later ROM version of the MPx220 - in that case, you'll have to use the registry setting described above.
