Ok, 2 days of searching and I found the answer.
First, to get in to the service menu of the phone you gotta do this:
923885 right (joystick) will enter long programming...to check lock code, security code, wap settings and couple other things.

It will take you to the NAM programing Menu
Select #5 WAP Params.
Pick the Gateway (1,2 or 3) you desire to edit
WAP menu is very self explainatory:
Primary IP: use IP for EDG or WAPtunnel
Secondary IP: same as Primary IP
Home URL: is your home page which could be edited later or you could set it up now (Google, yahoo, etc.)
Port:9203 (secure port)
Bearers: leave that option alone
Linger timer: leave this option alone
You are done!

P.S.
Here is the codes to get in to the service menu and test mode of the SE T61c (use them at your own risk, coz I only tried the one above)

987 right (on the joystick) or menu will enter NAM programming
923885 right (or menu) will enter long programming...to check lock code, security code, couple other things
904090 right (or menu) will enter field test mode

FREE WAP FOR LGVX4400/VX6000

In this tutorial I'll run through how to set it up using WAPTunnel's gateway. You can use any other gateway you wish, such as 3AM or EDG, just replace the WAPTunnel IP and Port with the respective ones for the other gateways. Okay, here we go.

Here's the IP and Port you need for WAPTunnel: IP=207.232.99.109 Port=9201

For other portals look here: http://directory.google.com/Top/Com...ta/WAP/Portals/

STEP 1 - Go to MENU then 0 . At that Service Code prompt enter 000000. This will allow you access to the service menu. Then press 9, this will take you into the WAP settings.

STEP 2- For the new service, use WAP Proxy 2. Enter 1 for IP setting, then 4 this will take you to Link2-IP1. For Link2-IP1 enter 207.232.99.109. Press OK.

STEP 3 - Press 2 for Port Setting. Then press 4 for Link2-Port1 and then enter 9201. Then press OK.

STEP 4 - Press the END key to get back to the standby screen.

STEP 5 - Start your web browser. NOTE=It will not initially work since you are no longer using Verizon's service to get on the web. Don't worry about it. After you've started your browser while it is trying to connect PRESS AND HOLD THE ZERO KEY. This will take you into the browser menu.

STEP 6 - Once in the browser menu, press 6 for Advanced. Then 2 for homepage. For a homepage you can enter http://www.google.com/wml

STEP 7 - Go back to Advanced. Then press 3 for Set WAP Proxy and switch to Proxy #2. After this you may either be prompted for a homepage or be sent to Openwave's homepage. When this happens, go back and repeat STEP 6.

That's it. Should work. You can also build your own homepage and incorporate links onto it for other places on the web you'd like to visit. But I have no experience with that, so you're on your own.
The following link will help you with setting up a homepage: http://www.rogerbinns.com/vx4400/vx...tml#ownhomepage

One last note: I pulled all this information from rogerbinns VX4400 FAQ and tried to break it down into an easy step by step process to avoid confusion.

For those who've asked to speak to me over AIM about this, everything in this tutorial is exactly what I'd tell you anyway, so if you have any additional questions about this, please post them in this thread.

I also found these step by step directions in a post from the LG Forum. Not that there's anything wrong with your instructions Frail, I just thought I'd give everyone another view. Hope I'm not being disrespectful.

Guide to getting free wap on the lg tm-510

1. Go to menu.
2. Hit 3 to go to the system menu.
3. Hit 0, Enter Service Code should appear on screen.
4. 000000 is the code to enter the service section.
5. Hit 6 "Wap Setting".
6. Write down the ip in Ip Setting Link 1-1 incase you want to go back to it.
7. For Ip Setting Link 1-1 input the ip that you want to use for free wap (i used the 1-1 slots because I couldn't figure out how to set the 2nd ip settings as default).
8. For Portsetting link 1-1 port write down the port incase you want to use it again (9203 on my phone).
9. Input the port for the free wap server.
10. Ok out of those screens and hold the zero key.
11 You may be asked to enable security which is fine.
12. Once you are on the web hold zero again to bring up the web menu where you can set up your prefrences and homepage.

hope this helps, i know the tm-510 is an older phone but a lot of people still have one.

After:
STEP 6 - Once in the browser menu, press 6 for Advanced. Then 2 for homepage. For a homepage you can enter http://www.google.com/wml

I enter my home page, and then it says something about sending a security code, I press ok and then it fails and I have to re-enter the homepage.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Can you tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Ok, well I dont own this phone but yesterday I set up my friends VX4400 and it took a while but it worked. The one thing that I would recommend is that to make sure that all the 0s are erased where you put in the IP. You need to put the IP address on the first line and then follow the rest of the tutorial. I did this and it worked. So hopefully this will be of some help to you.

PS Can anyone please answer the question about using this during night and weekends. I would also like to know if there are any charges related to using this such as a data transfer charge. I ask cause I dont want my friend to get himself a nice hefty bill cause of messing around with such a wonderful method of getting free WAP.

Posted by: Yayoface

hey i followed all the directions precisely but i get an error message i havent seen anyone else post for the vx 60000
"the resource type ' text/html' is not present in the client acceptable media types set" anyone know whats causeing this message to come up? it wont even let me go anywhere but the main page of shockware the generic homepage the same message comes up when i click "cool links" on the site help me

There are no data transfer chargers and it is unlimited during nights and weekends. It's billed the same way as voice calls. Peak calls are taken out of your peak allowance, off-peak calls are taken out of night and weekend allowance.

wap will work on your phone, if you pay for the service... otherwise go to one of many wap tutorials. i've compiled them, and added running your own server.

hello,
does anyone know of a proxy server that supports a secure connection?

thanks,

Posted by: drFUNK

Have the 3am labs or EDG gateway been working for anyone lately? I've noticed that my phone cannot connect to either, but will connect to waptunnel perfectly.

Posted by: rodeknyt

I followed the instructions for the a530. Seemed to work, but when I first tried to connect it said something about setting up a security key. I didn't say Yes to that because I didn't know if that would somehow start a $4.99 per month charge.

Is it safe to go ahead and give the okey doke to the security key prompt?

Posted by: atlantabriguy

Yes, you need to go ahead and say yes to the security key. You will not get charged the mobile web fee, only airtime, if applicable, when you are using the gateway shown here.

I followed the instructions for the A530, but it gives me the same message as earlier. It says it's not enabled. I know it's probably a stupid question, but how do I enable it?

I wish that WAP would work period for me. I have been using WAP for the past 5 months or so now, and now all of a sudden, it doesn't work. My friend's phone, his doesn't connect either. Anything happening in the rest of the world? I'm in SoCal.

Yes I did everything like post 2 explains.
Come to think of it do you have to already have internet activated on your phone before you can do those steps. When I got my phone I got it without web access so is that why its not working in the first place?

yo,

my girlfriend has one, i had set it up; but i'd rather give you a step-by-step on it later.

but if you want to figure it out on your own, (i just found...) here's how to get into the service menu on motorolas:

menu + 073887* (you've got to hit the 073887* short and smoothly). When it prompts you to enter the service code, enter 000000.
then find browser setup; and add new, which will automatically set as default if i amn't mistaken.

Posted by: lmiller2000

Ok I've read the various tutorials on Wap tunnels and setting one up.
I've tryed to connect to a Wap Tunnel listed in a tutorial and I get a Security Key error which ask me if I want to set up my Security, I chose 'YES' and yes and it says invalid security key. So I assume I have no clue what I am doing, and yes I admitt this is my first WAP experience.
So here are my questions.
I need a Wap tunnel that utilizes the following Ip type
000.000.000.000:00000
I tryed a 000.000.00.000:0000 ip but my phone wont let me enter it.
I also would appreciate a step by step if anyone has time.
Im not sure how i determine the ip for a wap site, do i just use a dns lookup?
Any help for a newb to not only waps but verizon in general would be most appreciated.
Thank you

Posted by: hymy

Waptunnel doesn't support encryption, so if your getting a security key request, then you have set your phone to use a secure port.

You should configure it to use a non secure port.

I ask again if anyone can help those of us with the 3589i or perhapes direct us to a website that can get us started. I have searched the web using google without luck. I have Verizon's mobile web which is okay but would like to download some wallpapers and ringtones.

Thanks in advance.

I may be mistaken, but I thought that I've been reading that we cannot save downloaded files whether we're using Verizon's mobile web or free WAP on a Verizon phone.

Greetings - I've followed all of the instructions setting up the WAP on my LGVX6000 - but now when I launch browser & say ok, it brings up "Openwave" screen with a listing (ie..cool sites, etc) ... I press & hold 0 to go to the browser menu - 6 for advanced - 2 homepage .... I want my homepage to be http://wap.oa.yahoo.com (I think ... all I want to do is check my yahoo mail)...so I go and change the openwave URL to the new one ... it tries to connect & then times out .... 1st quest: is there a way to set it to save the yahoo URL so I don't have to keep replacing the openwave 1 w/it? 2) is it always going to time out - have I done something completely wrong? 3) how do I get it to automatically connect to my homepage (which I want to be yahoo) when I launch the browser?! Help please!

Im sorry, Im being really dense about this. I have read these threads, I have done searches here and on the web and I still cant figure this out. I have a V60c that was upgraded to V60i firmware. I dont get an option under settings for browser settings. When I put in the number code nothing happens. I read something about some of the browsers being locked, but under application lock it doesnt seem to be. Any suggestions on what to try will be much appreciated.

For the v60c, you have to press Menu then 073887* and enter the security code(000000) at the prompt to get into browser setup.

Posted by: GadgetTravel

Thanks. I tried that. I press menu, the release and enter 073887* and I am on the first menu entry point (says Recent Calls). I press menu and hold it and enter 073887* and at some point during the entry it says "Shortcut not allower for". The display of the error message seems timed from when I puch menu rather than dependent on what keys I subsequently enter. I think from a software standpoint this is a V60i now. Is that the same procedure? Thanks again for helping.

Posted by: naturefreak85

i also tried this for the motorola 270C and it doesnt work, i saw in a thread from a search that it should work but it doesnt, does anyone else have an idea?

Posted by: geeja

For the v60c, you have to press Menu then 073887* and enter the security code(000000) at the prompt to get into browser setup.

Don't hold the Menu key down, just press and release.
You have to do the whole sequence FAST, like less than a second between keypresses.

Wow, thanks. I had read it had to be fast but it has to be REALLY fast to work. I can get there now. I am getting a connection timed out but that could be from a few things. Im working on it now that I have the menu. One thing I noticed is that I didnt see a place to enter the connection speed like FRAIL said. Is that in the same menu set. Thanks again, making progress.

Try the last digits of your wireless number. The 3589i doesn't support a security code, only a lock code. Which should be the last 4 digits of your cell number unless you've changed it. The code I gave above is the MSL. You might need that to access the programming menu(*3001#12345#) which is where you'd need to go to setup the WAP service. You can't do that in the security menu.

Im happy that it worked.......but now i just have to figure out how to set up the free wap on the phone

Type in *3001#12345#

If prompted for a code enter your lock code(usually the last 4 of your number if you haven't changed it) or if that doesn't work try the MSL (000000 is default).

Select Server Address. Then Server 1 IP address. Write down the numbers currently in there in case you want to use Verizon's Mobile Web in the future and have to reconfigure it.

Then you'll have to enter the IP and Port of the free WAP gateway you want to use.

For WAPTunnel's gateway type this in: 207.232.99.109:9201
(207.232.99.109 is the IP and 9201 is the Port)

Then start the browser. Hit the power button briefly to bring up the Browser Menu. Select option 6 for Advanced then 2 for Homepage. Set a homepage like wap.oa.yahoo.com or some other page to your choosing or make a homepage at tagtag.com where you can place links to your favorite sites.

(note: I wrote this from memory as I don't have the phone with me. Feel free to make any corrections if there are mistakes or omissions)

Posted by: naturefreak85

frail....you are right on target as usual.....what would we do without you.....you always are on target and knowing.....this is so helpful....thank you so much no errors at all

Posted by: ghostdogg36

is there any downside to doing this.? Only had my vx6000 and don't want to mess things up.

Posted by: Soullous

The only downside is that there are not many sites that work with this, I guess because it doesn't support encryption. If you rely on the mobile web, then don't mess with it. If you just want to screw around with it without paying, then go ahead.

Does anybody have a list of good sites that work with the free wap service, BTW? I'm looking for sites mainly with local information, such as movie times, phone numbers, directions, etc... kinda like go2.com or mobile.msn.com, except I can't get either to work.

Posted by: Trazzer

wap.hollywood.com is awesome for movies! And http://www.tagtag.com is the best place to search for what you want. This has HUGE amounts of WAP sites!

This version of free WAP won't actually be free for you because your provider will still see that you're transfering Kb's and charge you accordingly for data. Not unless somehow you can have the phone use CSD vice GPRS.

So waptunnel doesn't work on grps?

Not sure about that. But even if you could get it to work, you'd still be paying for data.

I'm paying for WAP access already.

Can I try out free WAP on my a530 without screwing up my paid?
ie: can both methods co-exist on this phone so I can compare/contrast before deciding whether I want to switch completely to free WAP?

Thanks,
Eph

Posted by: naturefreak85

from what i know...yes, you just need to enter it as a secondary ip config and use your browser to use the second one....im not sure how it works on the A530 but i am sure someone does, maybe frail

Posted by: acizurqpid

anyone able to successfully get a wap site to display movie times on a vx6000? if so...whick one? i've tried all w/o success.

Posted by: cephraim

OK, so I've got two WAP setups on my a530 now.
Paid WAP (Web Browsing) from Verizon and a WAP Tunnel to wap.oa.yahoo.com.

My side-by-side experience shows that the paid WAP is much faster and more reliable than the wap.oa.yahoo.com setup.

Has anyone found a wap tunnel setting (IP address and wap site) that's as fast as the paid WAP?

I know that would be like getting my cake and eating it, too, but, for the $5/mo, I'll keep paying for good performance if there isn't an equally performing config through tunneling.

for safety should I delete Link1-Ip1 from my settings if I'm on Verizon using a LG Vx6000 phone? In other words, could Verizon charge me the $4.99 to get their mobile web if I choose "ok" from my phone or is the mobile web thing something that you have to call and have turned on by a CSR at Verizon?

Posted by: naturefreak85

no they will not...because you do not have it on your plan.....it will just say enable security and if you try to enable security it will fail so you do not have to delete it

I tried to use the EDG gateway, did they take it down or something? I pinged the IP and i got no response...

Posted by: Caz

ive been using my wap service for the last couple of months and all of a sudden i have not been able to get onto my wap at all. all i get is "network not available".

Is the wap server down?

Posted by: TyrantII

i get the same thing here in massachusetts, have they blocked outside wap gateways?

go2online.com has movie listings. I think it's pretty good. Not sure what their wap page is. Check out their website. I'm sure it's listed there.

Sorry I can't be better help. But go2online is on my wap gateway provider's web page so I don't know the url.

How do I override the WAP settings on the Samsung a610?

I tried with the instructions for the a530, but they didn't work at all.

just glanced throug hthe thread and didn't see aything about the audi CDM8900

any help here?

Posted by: Pack

Don't know if you've seen this thread, but try this LINK for starters.

Posted by: peachmasta

First got to menu
second goto Mobile web
hit 0 when you are in the mobile web section of the sliding menu
you will be prompted for your lock code
(your last 4 digits of your mobile number unless you changed it)
You are know in web setup menu
hit 1 (gateway)
hit 1 (address)
hit 1 (address 1)
then soft key right to change

Now i don't have verizon mobile web so i changed A to the free wap Ip (207.232.99.109)

I tryed using (B) or (Address 2 A) But i got the security code error when i tryed to connect, and i can't find a proxy selection in the setup so i just replaced the verizon address and it worked.

After saving address hit back to Gateway menu
hit 2 (Port)

Then same thing as with the address i replaced the verizon port under port A to the free wap port one (9201)

Once that is setup start your mni browser and you will be prompted for a hompage (www.google.com/wml) enter the one you want and thats it.

Any help for T720? When I try to get on it says security not enabled and then I get an error when enabling it? What do I have to change in the settings?

If I was to pay the $4.99/month for WAP, would I be able to download ringtones and wallpapers from tagtag for free?

Posted by: peachmasta

if you want to keep the verizon ip and free one, go to settings by holding the left soft key while in browser and go to advanced, then wap proxy.

Posted by: jordankickz

Are there ANY sites I can go to for ringtones or wallpapers w/ free wap?

Has anyone yet found the settings for free wap w/ the 4500?

Have you tried doing it the same way as it's done for the VX4400 or 6000?

theres only one proxy on the 4500, will it still work

I don't see why not. I guess you could give it a shot and see if it works. But I would write down the info that's currently in there in case you ever want to use the paid WAP.

Ill try it out later tonite and tell u if it works, gotta save the minutes man. "Dont call no phone a' mine, unless its after 9" - a530demon

sorriee but no
verizon blocked all downloads from WAP
and instead tell you to download from GIN
but i think the prices on GIN are bs
i was pissed when i found out that you couldnt download anything from WAP

Im not sure wat to do now about the wap. I followed the walkthrough for the 4400/6000 and it will take me to the menu but it will not let me type in a homepg.

I folllowed the instructions for my A530 and it's not working for both servers. It asks me to enable security, then when I press yes, it displays "sending )))))" for a while, then it states that "server not responding".

Can someone tell me what the problem is?

Thanks.

might wanna check the Audiovox forums...

Posted by: fishfuzz

Hopefully this isn't a repost - I searched for 270c settings and didn't find any.

Here's my working configuration w/waptunnel:

1) MENU + 073887 + *

2) Security code 000000

3) Browser Setup

4) [New Entry]

5) Name: Free (you can call it whatever you like)

6) Homepage: http://www.google.com/wml (or your favorite WAP page)

7) WAP IP 1: 207.232.099.109 (the leading zero will disappear, but it makes for easier entry)

8) WAP Port 1: 9201

9) Choose DONE

10) Scroll down to the new profile and press the MENU button

11) Select Set Default

12) Press END to return to the main screen

You should now be able to connect!

Hi all.

For the last 3-4 days when using free wap with a530s I am
getting "Server is not responding" message.
It was working before..
How about the rest of you?
I used following combinations:
207.232.99.109 / 9201
193.95.167.178 / 9203
both give me the same result/message.

Thanks.

Same here...the 207.232.099.109/9201 give me the "Server not Responding" message...anyone else still able to use free wap?? if so, how?

EDIT: Could Verizon have done something to prohibit us from accessing free wap???

Posted by: Andy84094

As you read above, I also had trouble accessing free wap....
here's one that works...just found it in another thread and it works for me
194.204.12.42, port 9201

I would prefer to not go half way around the globe to Estonia for my WAP needs. I'm really starting to miss WAPtunnel. Anyone else have anything that works better?

Posted by: jmoses020

i can get the free wap to work and get to the site but everytiem i go to tagtag.com and try to download a ringtone it says "invalid content type"

Posted by: XxAzNxX

WAP doesn't allow you to download ringtones, pictures etc. Verizon blocked it...they want you to use GIN instead...

Hey, i read the post on setting up the WAP settings for the Samsung a530. After changing the IP address, I tried to use the web, and a message came up that said

"security is not enabled. Enabling security can take several minutes"

it only has a yes option, but when i choose this it says "sending" for awhile then it says the server cannot be reached. Is this an outdated site? what IP should i be using?

Thanks a ton guys.

Posted by: TtAudi703

Hey, I was reading through this how-to and several other ones, and this is what i got on my phone right now:

Name: Free
Homepage: http://www.google.com/wml
WAP IP 1: 207.232.099.109
WAP Port 1: 9201
Wap IP 2: 000.000.000.000
WAP Port 2: 9201
Conformation: Off (Hide)
Cahce Start-Up: On (Store)

Will this setting work on my Motorola T720/T730??

Thanks in advance!!

no. verizon doesnt allow you to download those from WAP. you need to start reading GAGIN threads to learn how to load apps on to your phone to get what you want.

i thought aim could be accessed by just typing the wap url for it?

Posted by: id4rox

I wish people would do a forum search, or atleast look at the thread topics on the first page. If you do this, 99% of the time you will find yoru answer. Ask yourself: "Am I the only one who could have possibly wondered/wanted to know/do this with my phone?".. If the answer is no, then most likely it has already been asked and answered here. Sorry to be blunt, but its true.

Here is what you want for AIM: http://www.howardforums.com/showthr...threadid=219183

You can search for info on your AOL mail.

Posted by: ionizer

ok I used the 193 IP and 9201 port recently posted
but then all i get is OPENWAVE'S page
1 Cool Sites (Doesnt work)
2
3
4
5
6

2-6 are junk, like "About us" "How to contact us" etc

nothing lets me enter my own address..

I tried hitting (and holding down) "0" when the openwave browser first comes up, but nothing happens

so where can I enter in my own urls? When im on the open wave page, all I can do is hit "ok" to their menu choices! arg!

i've read through every single post in this thread, but nothing about the a670 and how to enter your own url once you actually get on WAP (difficult enough)

For those who've asked to speak to me over AIM about this, everything in this tutorial is exactly what I'd tell you anyway, and I'm pretty busy most of the time. All the information is here though. Hope this helps. If you have any questions about this, please post them in this thread.
ok im just gettin into this i tried all those wap portals and ips...they didnt work i jus wanna get one thing straight... i do this same process every time right? the only difference is the ip and port numbers right?

Posted by: jsluks

OK, I read everything and unfortunately, I am having trouble connecting to much via free wap. I have had some limited success with the 193.113 IP, but not able to connect on any type of regular basis, even with waptunnel (seems to be down), not too mention very difficult/unable tobookmark or type in my own URL.

Using the a670 and VZW.

Any help would be much appreciated!!!

I tried all the good WAP servers (waptunnel etc.) on my samsung a650, but they all end up saying server not responding. Can someone help me?

Posted by: Gar10

Excuse me but I am new to this forum and don't know if this topic has been discussed here before or if it is the right place for this. But I have heard that Verizon is being sued for charging minutes when minutes are not being used and adding extra charges to bills. Does anyone know if this is true? If so, how do I sign up?

Posted by: rocksolid99

Please don't flame if I missed something, but I scanned through this thread and didn't see anything on the vx7000 and wap. Would it be the same as the 6k?

Thanks in advance.

Posted by: slantednet

I've gone through about 3 different wap ip's on my 4400 and they all return the same failure (Server not responding).

It's very possible that verizon could block certain IP's (like those to waptunnel) but are they? I was able to get the service to work using their $4.99 service, so I'm confident it's not the phone.

Has anyone been able to successfully access one of the free wap providers lately? (Like, as of tonight, for instance?)

Posted by: cadnyc

i'm experiencing the same problem lately. i cant connect on my a530. tried 3 wap ip's and still getting server not responding.

Posted by: theturbanator

anyone know how to do this for the a670, i tried the a530 way but the security key thing messes it up

i would also like to know how to successfully set this up for the A670...doesnt seem to want to work.

There are no replies to the inquires in this thread about the T-730. Does anyone know if there is a procedure for the t730? Thanks.

Posted by: royta

I was troubleshooting a WAP problem with my server and VX4400 this morning. From the "000000" WAP Settings, I chose option 6, "Reset Browser". This automatically rebooted my phone and reset all of the IP addresses for WAP to 000.000.000.000. It also defaulted the ports to 9203. So I input my IP address and changed the port to 9201. I tried to use WAP, but received the following message, "Internet service is not enabled". What's up with that?

Thanks. -Roy

Posted by: royta

one more thing - It doesn't even attempt to try connecting to the WAP server. It simply states "Internet service is not enabled". At least before, it would attempt to connect to the server.

Well, I found out I have to have Link1-IP1, Link2-IP1, and Link3-IP1 populated with an IP address. I only populated Link1-IP1. I am still unable to connect to the server though. I scanned the IP address for an open port 9201, and it is certainly open. So, I'm not sure what the deal is. It worked fine when I had my 4500, but I don't recall if I ever got it to work again after swapping out to the 4400.

ginotech - You're right, it's not ironic at all. It's not much different than hating traffic, but owning a car.

Anyone know of any ip's that work right now?

Posted by: jabroni1m

Was wondering if anyone could answer this. If I follow these instructions someone sent me will it work for National Access on night and weekend or will it charge me data usage. I have a LG VX6000.

1. Change port speed to 230400, make sure phn is set to USB.
2. Connect phone to pc with usb cable.
3. Install drivers for USB Cable from download.
4. Use dial up networking to create the connection.
Use phone number #777, use 8181234567@vzw3g.com as user name if thats ur phn number and use vzw as password.
5. Connect and it should work fine.

I know this will work but what kind of charges will there be?

Posted by: ginotech

that isn't free WAP, that seems like you're using someone else's account. that seems like a bad topic for this forum, especially since you posted their password. i don't think whoever sent you that is very happy...

Posted by: royta

oh dear

Posted by: Daaz

Well, to update:

I desided to just run my own wap proxy.

I was tired today, and i kept using my private ip (to put into the phone) and it took me a good hour to figure out that i'm suposed to use the primary ip.

Hurrr :B

Posted by: jabroni1m

Why would someone use vzw as their password? And why would they share this information with me? I"m not going to use it just incase.

And if i'm using my phone number in there how could this be their acct.? Has anyone else connected like this?

Posted by: ginotech

so you posted your cell phone number on the internet?

Posted by: jabroni1m

NO, if you dial 8881234567 or whatever I put it doesn't dial to anyone.

Posted by: ginotech

okay, just making sure

Posted by: fishfuzz

*sigh* The information he posted was an _example_ number. It's not real.

Secondly, the password for the connection is vzw - for everyone. Makes no difference what your account password is.

I think the Rock would have something to say about these Jabroni.....

Instead of using WAPtunnel IP gateways, try using something like 3AM Labs, there are a lot of them out there.

what is a 3AM Lab and where can i get one at?

You can try sarching for WAP portals on google or something. I dont no their IP. I'm not using either of them.

i have free wap for my vx7000 but does anyone know how to get the Verizon Subscribe for $4.99 to go away?...

Posted by: ChuX

I just tried using wap on my VX-7000. I got to the yahoo wap site. But before it went to the Yahoo site, it showed the screen telling me to subscribe to mobile web. Does that mean I am only using up airtime minutes? I just want to make sure. I did not call CS to enable mobile web.

Posted by: airkarol

If you didnt use the hack, then you are being charged. If you used the hack, then it is normal for it to come up and you are only using airtime.

Posted by: thomaconda

I've tried many different IPs and they all seem to work in some ways, but for my use I can't get into Yahoo for email or messaging 'cause it seems some of the listed proxies are in different countries..?? would anyone have a suggestion..I merely want to check my email once a day or so and maybe someone can help.. I found one a few weeks ago that you could log into Yahoo, but I can't seem to remember it or get it to work email me or Private message me !! tom tomsat(@)yahoo.com

Finally got it with a little searching and fiddling:

First hit "menu" then 073887* (do it fast) and security code: 000000 (fill it up with zero's)

Then go to "Web sessions"

Change IP 1 to: 65.197.94.250

Change IP 2 to:63.226.96.241

Scroll to port 1 and port 2 and change both to: 80

I set my home page to: http://www.google.com/wml

Save it under your name and your on your way.

Also, there are field test modes and other goodies in here!!!!

Happy surfing!

Hey, lets456
The Gateway works like a CHAMP! I just got it set up on my V710 and it is flying, plus it supports WAP 2.0 browser.
I do have couple of questions for you though...
As we all know... all good and free stuff sooner or later comes to the end... So, do you who's gateway are we using? and even more important question, how long do u think it will stay up, b4 it'll be shut down?
I was too lazy to look up IP addresses on the net, so decided to aks you.

Yep, I wondered the same thing. Anyway, this where I got it:

Hmmm.... Interesting...... this web page stopped working for me about a month ago, but I will have to admit that I haven't checked it since them.

Oh well, at least we got some public(coz nothing is free ) WAP 2.0 gateway up and running for now.

NOTE fot the Moderator:
Could u please move this thread to the FAQ under Sticky Free WAP Thread?

Thanks a lot!

Don't forget these are FREE proxy servers. Some are dynamic and/or temporary and might have certain things blocked. You can try using whois and pinging the IP to see who owns the server and how reliable it is. You can also limit domains used (.com, .edu, etc) that should be more reliable.

Sites to try:

Switch proxies. I couldn't even connect to many sites for a few days when using the two IPs you listed, although it worked fine when I first began using them. So, I switched.

I'm now using

65.203.88.43 port 8080, and...
66.23.49.36 port 80

Tons faster and loads the pages I couldn't access with the old one. Good luck.

Please reference people to this posting of mine in the future, as I am posting it here alone. It is valid for anyone who wants to use WAP on their phone, ie: anyone who ever needs/needed a 'free wap gateway'.

If you have a broadband internet connection that is "always on", with a computer that is always on, you can have free WAP on your phone (any phone that uses WAP, any providor) without worrying about switching "free gateway" IP's and trying to find working ones every week (or whenever). You can run your own WAP gateway on your windows computer, so that you have a permenant WAP gateway server for your phone to use and never have to worry about it stopping (so long as your internet and computer are both on).

Download now.wap from here:
http://www.nowwap.com/download/wapgw.exe

Install the program. When it is installed you open the program and hit the START button. Tick RUN AS SERVICE box. That is it. Configure your mobile phone to use your computer IP (www.whatismyip.com) for the gateway, and use port 9201. You now have your own WAP server that will never go down on you so long as you keep the computer on.

There are two more things to do to ensure smooth operation:

1) You need to make it so that now.wap is in the startup folder in start > programs, this is so when you restart your computer, now.wap is automaticlly started for you. Create a shortcut for the program, then drag the shortcut to the startup folder.

2) now.wap has a 30day trial limitation. This trick will let you sneak around the 30day limit by keeping your trial on 30 days remaining without decreasing.
a) Download www.livefromhawaii.com/nowwap_trial_reset.reg
b) place the reg file somewhere on your computer (I used the now.wap folder in program files) and then create a short cut for the reg file. Put this shortcut in the startup list. Now when you turn on your computer it will automaticlly run both the .reg file and the now.wap program with a fresh 30day trial limit.

That should be sufficient for anyone with a 24/7 internet and computer to get their own WAP and end the problem with "free wap gateways". Follow what I said above, and you will have it. This is your own private gateway, and unless you tell people your IP address, no one else will be able to use your gateway. No worries about it ever going down on you, having to change gateways (If your IP ever changes you just have to change the phone to your new IP), slow access, features being disabled, websites blocked, etc.

Enjoy it all, archive it somewhere, forward people here, I've seen enough of the same posts looking for / arguing over IP's, hopefully this helps.

Aloha

Cant wait to get rid of this modem here in the middle of no where land..Maybe I'll find someone who will share their IP with me eh?

id4rox ,

I did exactly what you said and I cannot connect. I am behind a zone alarm firewall, but I allowed full access for the nowwap program. Any suggestions?

Posted by: id4rox

Close zonealarm and try again. If it works, find out whats wrong with zone alarm. if you use a router, log in to it and forward port 9201. Verify port and address on the phone.

Posted by: justincase

OK, zone alarm was being a bit goofy, so I got rid of it and just installed the latest F-Secure. Then I allowed all traffic and I still couldn't get in. I'm just on home system with a cable modem using windows 2000, nothing fancy and no routers of any kind. Not sure what's up...

Posted by: id4rox

Sorry then, I don't know. I posted the info for people to get free WAP, but am not going to help everybody troubleshoot getting it to work on their computer. I told how to install and run the gateway and how to bypass the trial limit. After that, you are on your own to manage the computer and IP and programs access, and programming the gateway information in to your phone.

good luck to all.

Posted by: justincase

Final Edit: I finally figured it out. I used port 80 and other ports of 8080 and then created an allowance of a range of inbound IPs in F-Secure (since the phone's IP is dynamic) and all is good.

Thanks for the post though, it got me there! Just needed some tweaking from both my phone and computer's setup

Ditto on my A530. I haven't been to the forum in a while, and I haven't used my mobile web in a long time either. Now I have a need to use it, and I can't get it working. This forum used to always get me going, but now it doesn't seem as useful. Is there some other source for good, free WAPs?

Posted by: vermouth

So the home page keeps resetting to the openwave.com address on my vx6000, and I get a 'server not responding' message. How do I get the page I want to stick?

Posted by: Dharmster

I just got my KX2 and in reading through the entire thread couldn't find instructions for my phone. Anyone know how to set the KX2?

I have been seaching and not seen anything on the v710 setup. Would someone please share their settings with me on this one. I would love to get this up and running. I did get the WAP Gateway program to run on your home PC so you know it will never change, but I don't know how to configure my phone. Help please.
