Advice on which hosted BES service

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Ok not new to blackberrys, but its been about a year for me and I ordered the nextel 7520. Basically I want to view attachments and have the blackberry browser. I know nextel is supposed to upgrade their servers, but until then ill pay extra for full support.

What would be the cheapest way to go? I dont fully understand how these services work, but I do not need the hosted BES/mds for email, I want to just use the address nextel gives me(plus my personal accounts) For these services do I always need redirector, or is that just for the exchange email that they provide? I cant always have a computer going.

If theres a better solution, let me know.

Thanks

As near as I can tell from reading the forums, the low price leader is www.myblackberry.us for hosting of MDS and BES. They are advertising $10/mo. I know a few people are using them and can chime in with experiences.

I've been using Mailstreet.com which is about $25/mo after adding everything (Exchange/BES/Spam Filters).

myblackberry link

Nevermind - apparently there's a hofo problem linking outside of howardforums

i don't know what the deal with linking outside of hofo is, but if you type www [dot] myblueberry [dot] com into a webbrowser... they offer the service for $10 US per month. I am using them now and have had no real issues...

I do not speak very highly of myblackberry's service. They have very poor customer service.

Therefore I decided to go with Mobileweb4u's service, much more professional and they will have you set up in no time. It is slightly more per month ($10), but IMO it is worth the extra money to not have to deal with the poor attitude of myblackberry.

mas90guru, I think My-BlackBerry somehow became a banned word at HowardForums. That's why "My-BlackBerry" turns into "HowardForums" as soon as you remove the hyphen from "My-Blackberry.us"

I use www.mobileweb4u.com also. Their service and support is phenominal. I dont think there is any other company I have dealt with that goes above and beyond to make sure your service works to your satisfaction.

Check out their BES/MDS link. They also provide a "personal BB gateway" for use with reqwireless webviewer.

I have used both - I think there is nothing like a BES/MDS account. By the way, Mobileweb4U is getting pretty good reviews on their BES/MDS service.

Just my 2cents.

One last question, to use bes/mds services, do I have to always have a computer on at home, and will I still be able to use my nextel bwc?

Posted by: Mark Rejhon

Nope. You don't need to keep running a computer 24/7 .... for either BWC or a hosted BES/MDS service.

You do need to intially set up your BlackBerry via your computer for BES/MDS (at least for pre-BlackBerryOS4 unit), as well as for PIM synchronization, and application installation.

How good is the blackberry browser compared to webviewer? I've used webviewer and it is quite buggy at times, anf is also kinda slow.

Since I'm on nextels network already, exactly what benefits would I get with bes? Just attachments and bb browser? And can I still use bwc if I sign up with bes?
