The only way I know to find "free" ringtones is to either surf as a WAP broswer (oprea will work too) to sites like Craiggiven.com and use various uploader tools to send them to your phone (like http://rumkin.com).
OR, you could do what I do and find a midi program to make them yourself. You can get the QCP thingy right off the Qualcomm site so you can make your own QCP (true voice) files.

P.S. Donate to CraigGiven.com if you like it. He has been up for years and, jugding by his new "nag,nag.." pages, I was the only one who donated. (That was a few years ago...)

Oh, yeah, and you could probably find some stuff on newsgroups too, but I think what you ment to say was "Can someone hand me a DVD full of ringtones for my phone" for free?

Don't forget midi was very popular in the 80's and early 90's for games and stuff so there are a pile of tools out there. It's not like it's a new format or something.

If you are a Sprint user, you may have free downloads available thru Sprint depending on what Vision pak you have. If you have Vision Picture pak you get $5 credit each month toward free ringers, premium services, etc. If you have Vision Premium pak you get $10 credit each month (the trade off is Premium pak does not give you Unlimited Picture Mail.)
