Thinking of getting a QD for video purposes

I was originally planning to buy a 7610 mainly for playing videos, but I discovered the N-gage had the same capability recently. My question is how is the sound? Are subtitles readable(anime)? Is there a data cable available for the QD? Thanks.

sound is not that good since its mono...

yes subtitlers readable...

and no data cables for QD (hmm..i think so...)

he's not even asking any mmc related questions man..=P

1GB MMC work fine. If you plan on transferring any large file, go w/a card reader. Bluetooth is painfully slow.

^ good advice jun0ne! always go with mmc reader

Since we're in the topic of video; was wondering if someone can give a comparison between 65k screen (i.e. 6600) vs the 4k screen found in QD. I've tried my friend's 6600 and it looks really vibrant. Not too sure about the screen in QD. Is there any quality loss when watching a video or gaming?

Thanks!

Posted by: angel_wing0

yes there will be some at least..like what u said...64k vs 4k

Posted by: fulat2k

Will it be really noticeable?

Posted by: angel_wing0

not rreally...unless u look REALLY deep

Posted by: fulat2k

That's good to know Hopefully I won't be spoiled by the vibrant 65k screens

Posted by: angel_wing0

it really depends..if u try it with a 7610, it will be another case..cuz 7610's screen > 6600's

Posted by: fulat2k

That's odd. They're both 65k screens. In what sense is the 7610 screen better?

Posted by: angel_wing0

its much brighter~

Posted by: fulat2k

I've read that it's rather difficult to see N-Gage's screen under sunlight. Is that true? I've only been able to look at it under flourescent lights.

Posted by: angel_wing0

its sorta a yes or no...cuz u can still see it, but u cant comapre it to the TFT screens that 6600/7610 has

Posted by: fulat2k

As long as I can see it, it should be fine. Can't compare it with the more expensive phones

Posted by: angel_wing0

exxactly

Posted by: 1000101

while we're still duscussing videos on the ngage... what video file types can the ngage play?

i been using 3gp but i can only get 176 x 144 resolution to work, which kinda looks a bit blocky

Posted by: angel_wing0

3gp and avi (using smartmovies) afaik...

Posted by: fulat2k

Videos can be viewed fullscreen with some tweaking rite?

Posted by: angel_wing0

with smartmovies or pvplayer...yeah..not the default real player on the ngage

Posted by: 1000101

where would one go about purchasing / obtaining *if its freeware* smartmovies

Posted by: angel_wing0

lonleycatgames.com

Posted by: 1000101

lonleycatgames.com is broken :-p ill keep searching though

Posted by: angel_wing0

http://www.lonelycatgames.com/

typo...

(and its NOT a warez site fyi...)

Playing movies on the regular N-Gage is much better since the sound is in stereo. Smart Movie is a great converter if you have the movie already stored on your pc. DVD2Nokia is much better because it converts the DVD itself to avi format.

DVD2Nokia...must find
