I made some mp3 ringtones and transfered them to my 6000 and they didnt work. So i went to go delete them and they wont delete. Is there any other way to try and delete these? Like going in with bitpim or soemthing? Thanks Derek.

Ok i was looking on the filesystem on my phone under user/sound/ringer And it shows the ringtones that work, but its not listing the ones that dont work. So now what?

Having the same problem. It has something to do with text only as the mid files are not there. You cant delete all or and one file. It will not allow you to rename either. Hope someone has a way to fix this.

Well I fixed it. You need to...dare I say...delete some files so the phone can reset the map files for ringer tones. The image file below points to the ones you need to delete. Make sure you using Bitpim and you make a backup of the files first.

Once you delete those 3 map files, turn phone off and then on again and it will remove those files that seem to stay even when you try to delete them.

This has something to do with the limited space for naming the mid or mp3 files. If you go over the number of characters when uploading a mid file, the file name will upload but the mid will not. Thus creating bad entry in the ringtones map file.

Good luck!!!!!
