I dropped my V710 in water. It is competely dead. If I plug in into the wall it just flashes the Hellomoto logo. I thought that I had purchased the insurance, I usually do, but when I went into the Verizon store today they told me I had not. Just checked my bill and they are right. Anybody from Verizon out there that can give me some options other than buying this or any other phone at full price? What do I do now with this broken 2 month old V710? Please help, I need a phone!!!

Wait for it to dry out, then bring it back to the store. It should be covered under the original warranty. If not, Purchase the inurance now. Then make a claim. I'm not sure if they have a grace period or not where you can't make a claim.

There is unfortunatly a piece of white litimus paper just beside the battery. When exposed to water it turns red, and Motorola (nor any cell manufacture) does not cover water damaged cell phones.
Same thing has happened to TWO or our corporate cells as well ..... I am getting the feeling that the V710's are somewhat suseptible to this problem and all of our other motorola's ... never had this problem.

Often with small electronics that are subersed in water, they can be brought back. You have to remove the battery immediately, open up as much of the equipment as possible, douse everything copiously with distilled water, then let everything dry for several days. Once you reassemble everything, try a new battery and see what happens.
This worked for me when my daughter totally soaked her wristwatch walkie-talkie. Man, that thing was flooded and dead to the world. 7 days later, it was as if nothing ever happened. I have known others who have been able to bring phones and PDAs back to life this way.

The key is to dry it completly before powering it up. I had a Nokia in my bag while at Victoria Falls. After not paying attention for awhile I notice that my bag was abit heavier. It had several inches of water in, and phone was at the bottom of the water. It was not on - Thank God - left it off for a couple of days, turned it on and stills works perfectly to this day. My "Water Resistant" Olympus camera was completly dead though. Good luck.
