I was able to connect to the internet via SBC Freedon Link Client before and now I am getting Error 734.

Can anybody advise as what I need to do to resolve this? I am connecting via USB through V551 and I have Media Works.

Thanks.

I contacted cingular data support about that last night and was told that it was due to not having the correct feature on my plan. I was told having media works will not allow me to acces the internet from my laptop only from my phone. go figure.

U need are the "AT"....Commands....Do a search for my name thread title is bluetooth settings.......The commands u need are there....... you didnt really think cingular would tell u how to make the 20 buc package work like the 80$ data connect did u?.... ......

If you're using Windows XP, it's very easy to configure a dial-up connection for MEdia Works and any phone.

You'll need to modify the modem's configuration and then create a dial-up connection for wap.cingular. Basically, you go into the phone and modem configuration, select the v551, choose properties, find the page that has "extra initialization commands," and type in +CGDCONT=1,"IP","wap.cingular" (I don't believe you are supposed to use the leading AT in that field..I'm pretty sure it's added automatically..if it doesn't work, add AT to the beginning of the string above.

With that done, go through the new connection wizard, setting the modem used to be whatever the v551 shows up as, the phone number as *99# (if you don't use the above initialization string, you'll have to configure your phone correctly, then use *99***n#, where n is the position in your GPRS configuration list that holds the settings you need to connect (APN wap.cingular, mainly)). You should set the username to WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM and the password to CINGULAR1.

Using those settings, you should have no trouble connecting in such a way that will allow you access to the Internet. Enjoy, it's really useful!
