I'm a little confused here reading the memory from my smt5600.

When you bring up "system info" it lists the memory of your device, however it's rather vague in defining whats storage and ram.

Total memory 23.08MB

Storage memory 1.46MB (580k used, 900 free)approx...

Program memory 21.62 (14.07mb used, 7.55mb free)

The there is the "FLASH" information

Storage (flash) 27.98 MB (9.82mb used, 18.16mb free)

Storage card: none (i don't have on yet)

So whats the difference in the different kinds of memory.

BTW: this phone is awsome...

The memory is the same thing as RAM. On Windows Mobile phones, the memory is split into program and storage. The program part is the memory that running programs can use. The storage part is the part of memory where files can be stored (I believe the /temp folder).

The flash storage is also where you can store files, however unlike the memory storage, it doesn't get erased when you turn the phone off and on again.

Thanks.

So everything in /storage stays put during a reboot, everything in /windows is refreshed from the rom.

Is that correct? What about the /temp, /profiles folders?

Actually everything stays in windows, etc... after a reboot or shutdown. The only time things are lost is if a hard reset is performed.
