Hi all, Using a Motorola RAZR thru Rogers, works very well!,My wifes company pays for her phone, they are with Bell Mobility, she has the option to chose whatever phone she wants as long is it's registered to Bell. She Loves my Moto RAZR! It's a GSM non compatible with Bell phone.
Problem: She doesn't like any of the Bell Phones available!, She loves fashion phones, Like: Siemens Sl56, V 70 etc.

She's looking at getting cdma internet 'grey market' import phones, these guys claim to be able to activate them before shipping them! what do you guys & gals think????

I have heard this with regard to the 10th Anniversary StarTacs but from what I understand and don't quote me on this is they will only work on 800. Bell is very stricked when it comes to foreign esn #. I would wait a bit and see if bell releases the Nokia folder 6255. They are also suppose to release the LG325 which is a slider with BT.

bell generally releases phones based on performance and value, not because of their fashion status...bell will not support any foreign handset, and if some dealer does activate it, it will either work somewhere between fine or very poor...a few or many of the features may not work...its up to you.

Wirelessly posted ( PROEST PHONE EVER: Nokia6620/2.0 (2.14.1) SymbianOS/7.0s Series60/2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.0)

Or just switch to Rogers, but you'll loose your number.

And her company probably won't pay for the non-Bell account

Yup your right! She has to stay with bell, she now has her eye on a Startac 10th anniversary available thru Wireless Imports ??
Anyone have experiences with
a) Wireless Imports or and
b) a Bell Canada activated Star tac 10th anniversary???
From what Wireless Import tells me: Everything will work(SMS-Call Id) except Internet ?? AND THEY CAN ACTIVATE IT ON BELL MOBILITY FROM THERE BEFORE SHIPPING IT UP!??
Your input is vastly appreciated! Tom
PS. She want's this as a Xmas present from me, so time is short...
What can I do I love her (wink wink)

where is this Wireless Imports? I guess it's up to you if you're going to trust this company with your money and time.. and if they are out of Canada do they really know if their phones will work for sure on Bell.. sorry we dont' know more in here.. try the lounge, there may be some more ppl there that have dealt with that company, maybe not with Bell, but maybe with Telus or at the least Sprint or Verizon in the States ,atleast get some info on whether they'll screw you or not..

good luck..

And if you find out let us know. I really like that phone and was considering it myself if it does work here.

For all of those wondering what the fuss is about...

At least the send/end keys aren't on the wrong side.

Hi All!,
Have spoken with Wireless Imports.

Upside:
they will receive Startacs on Monday, They Are able to register or connect phone to Bell Mobility before shipping up to Canada.

Downside:

They do not accept: Paypall , or credit cards for what they call: International orders. Bank Wire Transfers are all that they accept.
Also Bell Internet will not function, No Analogue on the Startac phones, SMS ,Caller ID will work,

What do you think?? Am pondering on what to do???
Tom

Looks like it's only 800MHz too. Talk about narrow coverage area.

Whoa, and $1600 US too. Yikes.

Now this is a cool phone.

haha yeah very cool phone shaner...it only costs $1100 which I'm assuming to be american dollars, but wow...what a phone!

Im thinking of buying a phone from wirelessimports. They say that it will only work on the 800mhz network. Is the 800mhz network any good with bell? Thx to whoever helps
