The only problem is replying to a text message from another carrier, but this doesn't just happen with the 5600. |

Originally posted by Stephen Porter Thanks! That's encouraging. I have a line on a local SMT 5600 that is still locked. My next question is how to go about getting it unlocked?? I've called many T-Mobile and Cingular stores here and they all say they can't or won't do it. Are the online unlocking sources reliable? I'm not too familiar with all this and I'd hate to drop $300 on a phone that I then couldn't get to work!! Again, TIA for all the help. |

Originally posted by kussm Its a great phone, and if we get this figured out, it will be incredible. It is worth the buy anyway, if you unlock it, you can sell it on ebay for approximately break-even, so you do not have much risk if you act quickly. I have tried all GPRS connection combinations from the forums and TMobile online support. The only thing I have not tried, is adding TMobile Internet to my account. That will be my last option if I cannot get a WAP/GPRS connection. |

Originally posted by kussm I could not make the WAP connections work, so I added TMobile Internet to my account and removed the TZones. The net cost per month is about $15 pretax for unlimited internet usage. It is working like a charm now. Awesome Phone!! |

Originally posted by Stephen Porter Hi, I'm new to this and I was wondering how you create the great-looking screen shots of various phone settings?? TIA for any pointers. Stephen Porter P.S. I'm still working with my Audiovox SMT 5600. I turned off full-Internet access since the web browsing was so slow and pretty useless. I did have T-Zones working, but somehow set it up to notify me of every email that came into my inbox. Big surprise on my first bill when they charged .05 for each "notification." They are crediting me for that. Now I want to get the $4.99 T-Zones and try to set it up so that I can get my POP3 mail forwarded to T-Zones. My spam filter--Mail Frontier desktop has a feature where it will forward emails to a cell phone AFTER it has done its filtering job. The typing difficulties on this phone make it pretty impractical for sending anything but the most rudimentary email, but I'm still very happy with it overall. I'm using a Bluetooth headset and have also started using it as an MP3 player. Those features, along with the Outlook synch capabilities, are enough to keep me happy. |

Originally posted by sound1992 FYI...If you have a smartphone be it SMT5600 or MPX220 and are using the phone with Tmobile $4.99 Tzones option, you will not be able to use AIM (via Agile) or MSN Messenger unless you upgrade to a higher data plan. I have received several explanations for this. According to Tmobile tech support, there are network settings hard coded into the MSN Messenger application EXE specific to Cingular (in case of MPX220) that will not be changed even if you properly setup Tzones on the smartphone. Motorola tech support confirmed this. The only option right now for AIM is via Tzones links, but this is down at the moment. Agile Messenger does not work on Tzones because Tmobile tech support said the necessary access ports are blocked on the Tmobile network. You gotta upgrade to the $20 plan if you want to use AIM from the phone embedded applications. |
