64K SIM upgrade on MPX220

Anyone upgraded the SIM card on their 220?

I went to a Cingular corporate store and got the free upgrade to the 64KB SIM...

I'm having 'issues' after the upgrade - my reception appears to be awful. I used to get 3-4 bars at the house, after the upgrade, I get 0-1 bars if lucky..

Anyone else having these issues? How does the SIM card affect reception?

I also can't tell if the indicator is correct. I can many times connect even when showing no bars... can't figure it out yet...

I got one, but it made no difference in reception at all. No better, no worse. It really depends on what market you're in and what Cingular is doing in terms of integrating blue and orange towers.

The whole 32K/64K SIM issue is a little more complicated than merely assuming that the 64K card is better. Though it certainly will give you a little more storage space on the card itself, the 64K SIM may actually degrade your reception, as Chiringuito has unfortunately discovered. Based on my cursory read of the subject, the performance you will get from a 64K SIM largely depends on whether your phone is ENS-capable (as the MPx220 is) and, more importantly, where you live.

There is a very in-depth thread on this subject in the Cingular section of this forum. Here's the link: http://www.howardforums.com/showthr...threadid=492681

Well, as far as the storage space, it's not for your use, but the space is for the ENS software on the SIM. So you still only have 250 contacts there. But yea, OP please read up on this b/c its not so simple. Good luck
