Content of MPx220 1.3 firmware?

I just found this forum a week ago and am very pleased at the number of people who are likewise getting their feet wet with the MPx220.

One question that I do not see answered well anywhere is what changes are included in the 1.3 firmware update? I am trying to decide whether to swap prior to my 30 days.

I have .342 purchased from Best Buy 11/29. My earpiece volume is...okay. When the caller is loud there is no problem, but a low-talker is pretty much a lost cause. The volume has to be all of the way up in pretty much all cases and it certainly doesn't vibrate the phone or any such thing.

Speaker phone sound is very displeasing, being crackly with the volume on high and hard to hear lower.

Wired hands-free sound is hard to judge. Good in an in-the-ear but I am getting mixed results on outgoing sound quality. On my first headset the people I call saw it sounds like I am talking from the bottom of a well. On the next they say my voice is very tinee.

I haven't used the advanced features like bluetooth as yet. I took a few pictures and they are all pretty much blurry and grainy. Some posts suggests that this may get better with 1.3.

I guess what bothers me about all of this is not knowing whether the problems with this phone are more firmware related or hardware related. In the latter case I could end up with a worse phone than I started with. It would be nice to be able to just update my current phone with a download or such not.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Actually there are many posts regarding your question but to sum it up--the 1.3 f/w changed the volume in both the mic and the earpiece for the better the camera is vastly improved and the camera no longer malfunctions when the BT toggle is on. there is yet another f/w update in the works form my understanding 1.9--imo you'd be best to swap your mpx 220 for the 1.3 f/w vs the .342--Hope this helps

OK I think you are right. But where does an early adopter like me, who got my Mpx220 from a non Cingular/AT&T/T-Mobile source go to get the firmware update? I would love to know.

You would probably have to send it to Motorola repair for them to flash it---or you can wait--I hear that there is going to possibly be a user downloadable update via the web possible soon--it's really your choice. If you do send it to motorola only send the phone, not the battery or the battery cover JUST the phone

There is a little buzz about the user-downloadable tool being in the works, in fact there may already be a version that is being tested for possible release in January.

But let's not get our hopes up; most of us here on HoFo have learned not to do that .
