NEC N900iG - anybody getting one?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

The first time a Japanese FOMA (3G) phone will support GSM, and it will be world GSM, so we can use one here in Canada. Anybody planning on getting one? I'm definitely looking at doing that, esp since I pass by Japan once in a while - but I wonder how complicated the unlocking will be? I'm sure DoCoMo wouldn't really like people importing the phone... anybody have any plans to get one?

Info here: http://www.gsmarena.com/nec_n900ig-967.php

Definitely WAY better than anything available here, and generally not so expensive, either.

Rumor says that N900iG will be very expensive, about 40000 to 50000 yen; this is by far more expensive than other high-end latest FOMA phones (about 30000 yen). Apparently N900iG is meant for niche market. Most Japanese FOMA users won't buy it.

Unlocking is, like other FOMA phones, next to impossible, I guess.

Where did you get it, and how much did you pay? Did you unlock it yourself, or it came pre-unlocked?

Maybe I am confused, but I looked at the specs of this phone in the link provided above....what's so special about it, 65k screen, 1.3 meg camera, 2hr talk time??? Am I missing something or won't any 100 dollar Samsung do the same and more???

Thanks and please enlighten me
