Pairing the Zire 72 with a Nokia 6820 - Dialer

Ok, so I purchased my 6820 specifically for the purpose of using it in a bluetooth pair with my Zire 72. I can get the phone to work as a modem, but the dialer functions do not work. From the PalmOne website:

When paired with Nokia 6230 and Nokia 6820, SMS and Dialing from the handheld are not supported on the following devices: Palm Bluetooth Card, Tungsten T, Tungsten T2, Tungsten T3 or Zire 72.

Please please tell me that there is a workaround or third-party solution to this problem! I would have spent my $250 on a different phone had I known.

Try this out:

You might want to try out the trial-version (Click on .ZIP) before buying it.

That dialer doesn't work (works, but not bluetooth dialing).

It uses Palm's Phone Link to do the bluetooth task, and so it uses the same thing the Palm is using and so fails.

I think the problem is that Phone link doesn't include the 16 digit pairing code in the right place in the bluetooth call for the Nokia 6820 or 6230 to accept the dialing task.

Either Palm will have to produce a new driver for these phones, or Nokia will have to adapt their firmware (less likely).
