Com Port Issues (CDM-8900)

Using Brewsky 8900 v1.01 and a straight-through USB cable (non-charging) with the Curitel Comm. Driver installed... why won't Brewsky work?

I swear I checked and searched every 8900 and Brewsky thread and no straight answer was found. I tried ports 1-5 and they did not work... am I trying something wrong?

Maybe it is the program, have you tried any of the other Ringtone/Wallpaper programs?

Bitpim or anything like that?

It's kind of wierd but I have to run BitPim first.
After my file system displays Brewsky works fine.

It's not weird. BitPim sets the phone to BREW mode (you can see it in the log tabs), which Brewsky isn't doing obviously. I have to use BitPim before I can use other tools too.

Can you guys assist me then? I've been told time and again that the straight-though cable I have won't work with BitPim. Is there a different setting for the phone (in BitPim) I should be using and/or should the COM Port be manually set?

Thanks.

Set the exact port you're using in BitPim, don't use auto-detect. Then try many times to open and close the filesystem root while looking at the log tabs 'till you get it to work.
