the SK2 came out 3 months ago, and before that the first SK came out around 2002, so dont plan on hearing anything for a few years...

SKIII ????? Try 2007. I would imagine it being Edge enabled with JAva support (if they know what's good for them)

IrDa was on the SK color and SK B/W but never used unfortunately and has been totally scrapped for the SK II. I highly doubt the will but IrDa on the SK III but BT would definately be a plus!

the whole Operating System IS JAVA.

Now, in regards to your statement.... i believe you mean JavaScript.

Please dont shorten the name .. JAVA and JAVASCRIPT are complete different things.

Javascript support should be coming out soon through an OTA (Over The Air) upgrade.

AMAZON.com is showing the Sidekick II as "clearance" maybe there is an updated II coming? Or maybe they are releasing the sidekick 3 to combat the many issues in a sidekick 2?

That site is bad news. It is not using HTTPS, so the site admins probably have a list of every single username and password that has logged in through the site.

I personally wouldn't trust it even though it seems to be formatted for wireless devices. GMail invites are actually being sold for money and with a list of logins they could get all the invites they want and make money off of them. Why use this anyway when you can use the POP function of GMail with your SK2. Works fine for me with the occasional hicup where I don't get a message for a little while.

come on.. screw all those webpages and those password/email sniffing baddies.... just setup your gmail in your email program as a pop account!!

just change your gmail settings to enable pop3 mail and setup it up on your sidekick..

as for the future of the sk2..

here's what i see..

a few things will determine its future (imo)

-tmobile and its data network probs... and also its marketing strategy.. very poor at the moment in-my-opinion.

-they should sell the save wav as ringer option in the catalog instead of trying to get us to buy a SUPER crappy "hifi" ringer for $3 when i can make my own ringer, a true ringer with fade in's and out's and actually appropriate parts of songs for free or for $15 one-time fee...

-they are not promoting the developing community.. there are tons of great apps that might get finished if they had a chance to make it in the catalog... look at hippaint..

but honestly, i'm gonna stick w/my sk2 for a while... plus, i'm planning on doing a few of my own apps eventually... hehe..
