I have to thank everyon involved in this thread first, i was able to quickly and easily do mp3 ringtones, remove the banner, and download pictures from that info! thanks guys! however a few people asked a question in the thread that hasn't been answered yet: HOW do you change, remove, silence the startup and power down audible tone sound that happens when the phone powers up or down?

It seems like if all the other stuff can be done this one must be a trivial issue that someone has thought of but I'm unable to find the answer with some searches. Thanks mucho in advance for any answers, even negative ones.

it cant be done. its in the firmware somehow, and now one has been able to figure it out yet..

a bit of info to those who might be researching this: Sometimes when my phone is powered off it doesn't do the full annoying message. It breaks maybe a few seconds after starting but still powers down correctly. The same thing happenes when powering up, but sometimes.

I guess i'll go browsing the filesystem. maybe all that needs to be done is creating a zero amplitude sample overwriting the midi that is playing the gosh forsaken tunes starting and stoping.

like i said, its not in the filesystem.. its hardcoded into the firmware.
