Z1010 Gprs Always On

Hi i just purchased a Z1010 on the 3 network in australia, and since activating it the GPRS active symbol has been steady on. Is this normal? I am a mobile phone noob but if im not mistaken, isnt GPRS for data transfer and if so does this mean by phone is downloading with out my knowledge? thanks for the help

It is just normal that you see the logo since you've started the phone up. The logo is there from the beginning ... WHY? aks SE ... :s but don't worry...

The gprs symbol shows if there is gprs available in the local area
