yes, but be wary of which cables you buy, some have weird internal voltage cabling which interfere with the phone, so make sure it specifically lists your phone.

i've been helping a download site called Joyfone to get my 8910 to download tunes and such not offered by my service provider, and I have to say they're pretty excellent.

you can upload to the site from your computer and then use your phone to download them.

it's the first no nonsense site I've found that will work with my phone as it's pretty darned cranky in accepting files.

and Joyfone did save me from having to get a data cable and software to work with the thing.

i've found it to be helpful, but many features of the 8910 phone are locked out by my service provider. so it's been trial and error.

sadly no it's not "free", joy is about $5 a month i think.. but you don't get billed on your cell account..
you may get system web access fees, but not also charges for individual tunes added on top of that like your cell provider.

ie for my cell provider account :
i'm supposed to pay for download times by the Kilobyte and a buck and change for a song.. upwards of 7 bucks for a game + K's
Meanwhile i can only upload pics i take with my camera.

so knowing that blows, and being a graphic guy, i want to make pics in photoshop and stick em on my phone, and my service provider won't allow it.. well doesn't "offer it"

i could spend 30 bucks on a cable and fight with that whole deal, or just use a company like joy which took a while to find.. there you can upload things you make and download it or their stuff or shared stuff - you just pay a "member" fee and have at 'er...

though you can expect access time for web browsing to get billed by yer service provider. But if you wanted say 6 tunes in a week or even 1 game - independant of download times - joyfone pays for itself, and you get three more weeks of "free" stuff.

download tunes off limewire or acquisition or kazaa like normal, upload to joyfone and download to phone..

i don't work for joyfone, I'm just happy to see a company being fair about billing while offering alot in return, ya know?

I don't believe this works with Virgin Mobile as you have to be able to go to the joyfone website with the phone. And I get the stupid 403 forbidden thing then. If I could get online with the phone, maybe then it would work. That's what I've been trying to do all along though.. oh well..

it should work if you have web access on your verizon account, after all, it's a web phone, so though i'm not sure - it wouldn't make sense to have a web phone that will only navigate verizon.
if your unable to get online at all, then it's likely your verizon account doesn't have the web package they offer.

But if you DO have regular web access - but get a 403 error from joyfone, i can only speculate that you didn't "sign up".
See, when you goto the site with the phone "www.joyfone.com" it should present a login page (you have to use the "go to url" function on your wap browser) anyhooo when you get to the joyfone site it presents a login screen, without your password you can't get in - hence a 403 error.

read through joyfone's help and/or send them an email.. they're super helpful.

I did sign up, that's kinda the problem because now I need to cancel. I never said verizon anyway, I said VIRGIN. Nobody ever said it was a web phone and I think it's pretty common knowledge that Virgin doesn't allow you to go to sites other than their own. I can't go to ANY site I type in there. I didn't realize you had to download stuff using the phone itself with JoyFone. Anyway, I couldn't find a way to cancel so I sent them an email about it.
