Originally posted by mlynn I went to a cingular store today for a possible purchase of an mpx 220 and the sales rep told me not to buy it because there was going to be an os update in about a month, has anyone heard of this ? If ther is a os update and you already own the phone can you update it ? Just as an aside, the cingular stores here sell the phone for atleast $100 more than BB or the mom and pops, why is that ? Why would I spend $100 more to buy from Cingular direct ? The sales rep told me to go to BB if I insist on buying now ! |

Originally posted by paul34 I thought it had SE? He was probably talking about 1.9. And you should be able to do a XBM (exchange-by-mail) to get an updated version if you already own the phone and its still under warranty. |

Originally posted by runbuh My (blue) MPx220 is running SE. As for WMP 10 - The word I am getting from my contacts is that this version of the MPx220 (I think an EDGE version is coming out later next year?) will never get WMP 10. I hope my contacts are wrong. |

Originally posted by veener88 When I went to activate my phone I could not put the Media plan on my phone and I had to call customer service to find out why. They told me I can add the service after I actived the phone and the reason for the hold is because of the new edge service that is comming soon. They said that my phone is enabled for it and I will be able to take advantage of the new system when it comes out. I guess it will be just a download for us that have the current software. I had no idea what egde was before I was told about it with customer service. |

Originally posted by jeffreyklein What is this EDGE that everyone keeps mentioning. Also, does anyone know if the new os or fw will fix the voice dial through bluetooth problem (my biggest qualm with the phone). Jeff |

Originally posted by paul34 The BT problem is a problem with the BT stack, which is part of the actual OS. So it's up to MS to fix this issue, and as far as whether a fix is included in fw 1.9, no it's not unfortunately. EDGE is a faster version of GPRS. In practice you can get speeds of around 100-150 kbps whereas on GPRS you'll get about 30-45 kbps (from my experience). |
