Help with 9900 battery....

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I am currently trying out the 9900 for my 30 day trial period with Verizon... So far I like the phone all the usual pros and cons that most people speak of with this phone. My only issue is that my battery life sucks!!! I usually only get about a day and a half out of a charge (if that). Anyone have any suggestions for increasing battery lilfe or any suggestions on where to buy a new battery if I've ruined this one. Will using a battery other than a Audivox be bad for the phone.

Thanks in advance for your help!

1.) 30 day trial with Verizon? They have a 15 day not a 30 day as far as I know???

2.) What are you doing with the phone? Just calls? Or are you using the camera and speaker phone and mobile web alot?

3.) Are you in a weak signal area? If you are in a weak signal area alot or going to analog alot then that would be a large part of the problem.

4.) The screen on this phone is AMAZING!!!! The screen on this phone EATS BATTERY!!!! Having the screen always on for a phone call will shorten the talk time by half or more. Check your screen and backlight settings.

NYCDru- thanks for hellping me with my issue.

1.) In CA, Verizon now has a 30 day trial period. I double checked this with two customer care reps as I was under the impression it was only 15 days.

2.) I am mostly only calling... and not very long or frequent calls for that matter. I have used the camera some, but nothing substantial.

3.) Not sure about the signal area.... I upgraded to this phone from the Samsung a530 which is all digital. I'm not using the new phone in any areas that the a530 got signal. I check the phone periodically and it rarely registers analog. Do you suggest forcing the phone into the all digital mode??

4.) I will check the screen and backlight settings...

I see that you have this phone as well... maybe you can help sell me on this phone. I do like it, but I'm trying to decide between it and the LG 7000. My roommate has it and I've messed with it and like it too. I don't like the size of either one, but I suppose that is something I can work with. Do you think the 9900 is one of the better phones offered by Verizon? I was very lucky to find this one and just want to make sure it is the right phone for me.

Thanks for listening and helping!

It is very strange but try this Cycle the battery. that is, drain it totaly and then charge it totaly. It took about a week for my phone to get the promised 3+ hours talk time .

This phone holds signal better than the 7000, has analog so in palces that don't have digital (very few) you are not @$$ed out. and has a nicer screen.

And to get to digital only

turn of phone
turn on phone
As soon as you see your background image Menu 7**
000000
option 3
set to digital

WARNING: you may raom on sprint occasionaly. To get it of sprint you may have to powercycle the phone.

No question about it. The 9900 is a winner. It's unfortunate VZW chose to phase it out so soon, or it would have become a legend, IMO.

Try the deep discharge method several times to see if your battery life improves. Charge it to full, then use it until it shuts itself off. Then charge it to full and repeat. Then you can charge it as needed.

LION batteries need to be chemically conditioned to get maximum life. This method is an easy way to do this.
