(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

K i found this somewhere.. and i'm not home to test it on my bor's mpx220.

but looks like a way to install java through the phone...

anyways someone give it a try you'll need a java app....

-------------------------------------------------------------

see no one post for java on xphone. so i post la. hehe

i upload 2 files
one is for java base
one is java game!
inside the Java-midp2.0.zip file there three files.
1. QCommCtrl.dll (for java main program)
2. Dmidp2.exe (for java main program)
3. JavaInst.exe (for java app. Install)

upzip these three file and put them in the same folder (u creat in you xphone, card or phone should be ok), then make shortcut for Dmidp2.exe and JavaInst.exe and put the shortcut in your starmenu. QCommCtrl.dll (dll file no need shortcut.hehe)

so everytime you want play java game. you need run Dmidp2.exe.
but for the first time you run ,this is nothing inside. (you havent install ma.hehe)

so how to install java app/game , run JavaInst.exe (chinese ver you may not see the word, if you use english ver xphone. but dot worry is still work in english ver. ) if can see then follow below.

after you run JavaInst.exe then you will see a windows have two textbox. the up one is for you to give a name for the app/game you are going to install. so you just type a name which you want the app/game you install to be display in the dmidp2.
for the below textbox is for you to locate the java app/game .jar file which you want to install. so just go to the textbox the press action key. will alow you to locate the file by defaut explorer.

after you have done the to textbox then press install (left below menu) then you done it. just pree quit.

so after you install the java. you need to run Dmidp2.exe to play it
just run Dmidp2.exe , it will load the game you have install when you start it. then you will see the name which you type in the first textbox just. press action key to play!

enjoy guys. wa cant belive i type so much. hehe. for the JavaInst.exe if any one good in program help to change it to english. thanks!

no dice..everything works but the games don't load...

Posted by: chopsu3i

uh...mpx-220 already has java, so i would think the way to install games would be like the SMT where u open pocket explorer and open the .jar of the game.

Posted by: shaolinmonk

i got it to work...

no people were saying you can only install games by downloading them.. you can't install directly through the phone...

this method works i figured it out..i think you need the jad and jar though...

anyways anyone that can host the app..pm me

k so it's about 500kb zipped up.

the instructions above work

2 problems with this method of java...

1. The software isn't legal to be installed on the MPx220. I'm pretty sure it's the software for the Mitac Mio.

2. What you are doing is installing your own seperate JAVA software and completely ignoring the software already on the MPx220 (which is WAY better). This is the reason you have to open your own program to run the game.

It's much easier to create a small webpage and download them to the phone that way. I've done it since I have been using java enabled phones and it's not a big hassle. It also allows me to use the software on the phone instead of an old and buggy illegal copy.

why is it illegal to run an app that allows java apps to run on your phone?

isn't that the same as getting pocketunes or betaplayer and using them instead on windows media player?

if i were to build my own java app and wanted to install to phone i would have to build a website pay to access the internet to donwload the app into my phone... isn't that a bit silly?

motorola's, nokia's SE all allow you to install direct so why can't MS smartphone?

the app doesn't look like hacked ware or anything...looks like something somebody wrote... there was no serial number or anything required...

Why is it illegal? Are you serious?

How much did you pay for it? Did it come with your phone? It's the same reason that using someone else's copy of Windows XP on your PC for free is illegal.

That software is licensed for use on the Mitacs only. Mitac pulled the software off their support site because people were installing it on older Smartphones when there was no JAVA software available. Like I said before, it's not as good as the JAVA software on the MPx220 anyway. Not a good tradeoff just to install your own stuff when there are better ways to do it.

i don't know i found it on the net...ever heard of freeware?i didn't see any mitac licence or warning...

so if i paid for it then it's ok? cool i'll tell the police that when i get a bootleg it's cool officer i paid for it..

works great so far no issues at all

Hey, don't lump me in with your hoodlum friends!

Seriously, I don't download MP3's. If I like it, I buy it. And Windows XP comes on every new PC. Why would you *HAVE* to steal it?

And as far as the illegal JAVA software, we're trying to discourage the promotion of illegal software on the forums because if we don't, then we ENCOURAGE those companies who own the rights to them to start suing the forum owners. Doesn't anyone get that?!?!? He may not get caught, but the forums could get shut down because some NewB just can't take a hint.

AND...

Like I previously stated, the Mitac version BLOWS in comparison to the one on the MPx220. Trust me, we're working on a solution to installing JAVA Apps yourself. And once I drop my ISP, I will need to find a solution real quick because I will no longer have a website to use to upload and download from.

so your version is legit and everyone else's version is stolen/cracked/unregistered and illegal.. come on now you should not try to develop anything you should CREATE A SITE AND DOWNLOAD!!! that's the way IT SHOULD BE DONE!

I don't know why you're getting all worked up... all i said was
1)there is a solution.
2)i'm not sharing or providing a link
3)people asked so i'm helping

By the way read the RULES newb!
http://www.howardforums.com/rules.html

you can download mp3's and pay for them to you know...

What are you talking about? The JAVA on the MPx220 is on the ROM and 100% legal. And if you're suggesting that I'm doing something illegal with my MPx220, what are you talking about? I understoon about 5% of what you said with some sort of clarity.

Right now, I upload JAVA files to my own website and download them with my phone. When I lose my website, I'm either going to write an app to install it for me (which edits the reg and copies the files to the appropriate directory - which I've gotten to work with minimal success) or to be able to copy the stuff to the phone and create either a webpage on my own network which I can browse to or on the phone itself. All ways are legal and use no copyrighted software I don't legally own.

What you are suggesting that people do is illegal. While you haven't provided a link to it, you're still suggesting that people download illegal software and install it on their phone. I don't condone piracy and I know the forum/moderators don't.

These files are licensed to Mitac Mio 8380 phone owners only. Since the files and info in the files are in Chinese, I'm fairly confident that you didn't obtain these legally. Otherwise, they'd be in English at least.

And remember your second post,

doesn't sound legal to me...

And like I said, don't bother with them. They suck compared to Motorola's JAVA software which comes on the MPx220. Why waste precious RAM with redundant software? I will have a solution so everyone can install their own apps soon. I'm working on it.

...and it's legal.

that's cool.. but my second post meant.. when i get home i'll get a chance to "test the sucker out" to see if the java app works..

oh by the way i found another english app that allows direct install...
midman 2.0 IBm sometihing.. no idea if it is "legit" or not but it works well too.

Anyone cracked this yet? (I mean 'legally').
