I got one nearly 2 months ago from US Cellular and it was 1.0.45... I dunno if Verizon even has that version yet... I found one at a local store that was 1.0.37 or something, so it seems that Verizon's a bit behind on the firmware for this phone.

How do you tell? I really don't know cause I just got my 2235...

simple.. just type in 111 111 (no spaces) at the ide screen then hit "option" then go to "Version"... It'll tell you your software version, PRL version, etc. Also, from that same menu you can get to the debug screen, programming screen, and so on (the security code for both is all 0's)

The newest version is 1.0.52 which makes the phone ERI ready. Verizon is selling the new ones in their stores now. If yours doesn't have the new software I think Verizon has the update on their intranet and should be able to flash the phone.

Hmmm... I wonder... I just had my phone shipped out to Kyocera a couple weeks ago to have the screen replaced... I wonder if they'll bother to flash the phone to the latest firmware while it's there... I'm guessing no, since previously when talking to the tech support reps, the firmware is sent out to providers to be customized as necessary and is not done in-house, so to speak.

I'll have to stop in to Verizon soon and have them flash it. I mean, around here, there's one on the way to... everything in the state. Well, almost everything.
