I got the code, went down to the store, he programmed it for alltel service (sid, mdn, mid, all that stuff) and it will do nothing but search for service.

I get no signal. I really just want to know how to get this stupid thing to work! It has been nothing but an aggrevation to get this thing to work. Can sombody please shed light on what I might need to do to get this phone to work...

Whats this deal about the PRL?

the PRL is the preferred roaming list. it is definitely important to have that correct. you can manually edit this list from within the kyocera wireless phone support toolkit

just crossed my mind, but i'm sure you've done this, is your ESN the same on your phone as on the back of the battery, and is the one on the phone registered for alltell? your phone's internal ESN may have been changed...but probably a long shot
good luck

I know @ work (I work for a wireless carrier), when I hook a se47 from a former cricket customer ot our kyocera wireless PST, it wants a six digit source programmable code which is different than the code I used to change the MIN/MDN info.

The only way I can get through to cricket is by having an active cricket number (which I don't have), so I'm stuck in a perpetual loop of press 1, 2, 3 etc..

I really wanted to help my customer but since I don't have the SPC and can't get a human @ cricket, his phone just says serching all the time

I found a loophole for that! Go to mycricket.com and find a store. I had to call about 100 stores before I got sombody to answer but I just told them I bought the phone and needed the security phone. I read the the ESN and they gave me the code!

The code isn't the real problem. The problem is after I enter the correct SID and my number and such I get no signel. Im trying to find a way to get the PRL.

Heres somthing new that happens. Keep in mind it doesn't work...it just says searching. Now, if I type *22801 which is the activation code for alltel, BOOM! I get a signel. Problem is i just get that stupid message that says "you need to enter a area code before dialing this number".

Could it be possible if I go back to the store and have him activate it if I try that code it wil download the PRL like its supposed to? Im going to go try...

You said you have everything programmed. If you have the correct home SID, have you tried forcing it to Home Only. I flip mine over to VZW from time to time to compare their signal to ALLTEL and I do it this way. I put in the local sid for VZW and force it to home only. It takes just a minute or so to lock on. Try this and see.
