Indicator on Vox Battery is Red

I've tried to search the site for the answer and couldn't come up with a query string that would work so I apologize if this is an old question. What does it mean when the indicator on the inside of an Audiovox battery mean when it's red? I haven't bnoticed a decrease in life yet but the phone is mysteriously turning itself off with greater frequency.
