wassup guys, first of all i want to thank all of you for all the posts. you guys helped me get ringtones on my phone easily =)

ive searched through the forums pretty well, but i havent seen a single thread about getting different tonese for a text message alert or slide up/down sound. I tried doing the obvious by placing new files in the appropriate folders using BitPim, but my phone didnt recognize them.

heres my directory structure.
sound->default
->predef
->ringer
->slidesnd

predef is where all of the text message sounds are, and they are all .mid files.
i tried placing a mp3 file in there, and when i did, it did something strange to bitpim.

bitpim made it look like it replaced the entire contents of the predef folder with the one mp3 file....so i clicked on the -/+ sign to expand and minimize the folder, and then i was able to see the .mid files again (although now the mp3 file wasnt showing).

sooooo.....im wondering if any of you guys have gotten new tones on your slider that can be used for message alerts!!!

have you tried taking another midi, renaming it to the name of one on your phone and overwriting the midi on the phone?

i don't think mp3s will work
