hey everyone... this is my first post on this forum... i've been reading up on some info here, and decided to get the sanyo 4900!!!! woohoo!!!

anywho:

1. I set up my phone book, but still when i get calls, i only see the person's phone number, not the name... shouldn't the people in my phone book (when they call me) come up w/the name and phone number? all my other phones (including samsung motorola and sony) had this feature... so now i'm supposed to remember everyone's phone number?!??! i hope there's a setting i'm missing!!!

2. on the standby screen on the right hand lower side.. it constantly says [MSG] is there anyway to remove this? i never get text messages, and i don't use sprint's VISION...

3. does anyone else think sprint went ghetto w/including only the simple user manual, and requiring you to view the full manual online...? simply stated, i like to have it in front of me... in my hands... now i went to sanyo's website and dl'ed the pdf... but i just hate reading LONG things on my pc...

4. if i don't have VISION, is there anyway to upload to my phone additional ringers/screensavers etc... i just feel that w/my job, i'm at a computer all day long, why do to have the internet on my phone... i'm never gonna use it... plus w/the sprint plan i have, i still have the 8pm start time on nights and weekends... (i think that sprint should change their new plans from 9pm to 8pm again...)

sorry for the long post... just had a few questions.... thanks for the help guys...

1. try putting the area code first - play around with it

2. put a picture in there - an image

4. either get a cable and software www.sanyo.com or just download some using .02cent/kb option from various sites that were posted in here.

i set up my phone with 1 (area code) telephone number...

when i took out the 1... i can see who's name is calling me THANKS!!!

as far as putting a picture in there... how would i do this?
and dl'ing stuff w/o having vision is .02/kb????

thank you again!!!!

actually picture wont make a difference sorry
but go to settings / display / standby display / screen saver is what you picture is / you can pick the ones that came with the phone or the ones that you have downloaded w. or w. out cable.

yes .02 cents/kb

1. has been answered.

2. The "MSG" is a button, not an image. If you press the right softkey it allows you to access the "message" menus. This is where you'd go to send msgs, shortmails etc.. I don't believe you can get rid of it. I have a pic on my screen and the "MSG" thing is still there.

3. No, just cheap and lazy.

4. Get a data cable and the software and you'll be able to add images and ringers.

-good luck.

edit: 1 more thing... does this phone NEED to use a screensaver... like if i don't have it on, will it "burn" the screen?

No, the phone will go into sleep mode after a while (you can set this option). Screensaver just drains your battery and amuses you for about 3 secs... ;-)

so i'm assuming that the sleep mode just further concerve's (sp) battery life...?

got another question (i'm an endless fountain of them!) when you have a hands free device plugged into the phone... is there an option to still have the phone ring through the speaker? i usually keep it plugged in when i'm in the car... (the speaker phone is nice, but when other people are in the car - it's just not private)... if i leave it plugged in, the phone only rings through the ear piece of the hands free device (which i don't leave in my ear)... can i change that?

thanx again!
