Agile Messenger running more than once?!

Maybe I didn't search hard enough, but has anyone noticed that the latest beta version (as well as the official 2002 release) of Agile Messenger seems to want to run multiple copies of itself instead of resuming to the already running instance in memory?
I've emailed their tech support regarding this, as it's a pretty ugly bug that I experience often. Haven't received a reply as of yet.
The scenario goes like this on my Cingular MPx220 with xBar 2.4 and nearly 12MB free on the phone (I've also tried it on a newly hard-resetted smartphone with same results):
- I launch Agile Messenger and it signs on normally.
Without disconnecting and/or exiting the program, I go back to the Home Screen.
Opening xBar with its hotkey, I can see that Agile Messenger is visible with its icon and running normally. I can switch to it.
I launch Internet Explorer.
I return to the Home screen and xBar does not show Agile Messenger anymore in the running tasks.
I launch the Smartphone's Resource Manager and I can see messenger.exe still running with a PID.
I close the Resource Manager and launch Agile Messenger again.
This instance of Agile Messenger is NOT able to connect to any of the services.
I open the Resource Manager and now I see TWO instances of messenger.exe with two different PIDs.
This shows that either it doesn't want to multitask or doesn't know how to get back to itself. One of Smartphone's pride and joy is the ability to multitask, but this issue is where I need it the most. With my unlimited Media Works plan, I'd like to leave a copy of this program running all day.
Anyone with similar issues or a way to get back to the running instance? xBar doesn't do it, neither does Resco System Toys. SP Task Manager doesn't see it as an application, but as some other process that it can't switch to either. What gives?

I have the same exact problem. In addition, sometimes Agile and or Explorer actually close too. I was starting to think it was something messed up with my phone.

Well I tried another IM application from Shape Services called IM+. It is $25 but has a 3 day trial. I have the same problem with this as I do with IE and Agile. So maybe it is not the application after all. Looks to me like a phone software problem.
