I have the 8900 with cricket service. I talked to the lady at the cricket store when i was getting a replacement phone (my old one broke) and i asked her if there was anyway to turn the web brower on and she said no that cricket cant use the web browser. So i asked her about just enableing it even tho it wouldent function.
She said no theres no way she could do it.
Now i know there are free waps that i could use to get a free connection but is there anyway to enable the browser? When i hit the left arrow on my phone it says Service not avayable. Could i enable the browser and put in a wap and get free internet on my phone??

Hey, unfortanatly, I don't know either... Have the same phone+Cricket... looking for the same thing. Any help on enabling the browser would be helpful, thanks.

PS. I doubt it would work because I dont THINK (may be wrong) that Cricket supoprts data calls... But then again I'm not even sure using WAP is a data call..

http://www.earthuser.com/8900/ go there and it has all the codes for the phone you can change the ip and everything .. now if you call cricket and activate cricket click https://www.mycricket.com/clicks/info/
you can get all kinds of cool internet apps I was wondering if when that is activated if you could get free wap or do other things I havent seen anyone talk about this maybe because cricket click is new but I think there is opertunity here we just need people to mess with it

i just got cricket clicks, that only enables BREW, not the web browser. There is a code to edit the web browser settings, but i know of no ways to enable the browser yet. Before I would have said that it was impossible to get free wap because cricket didn't support data calls, but now that you can do BREW, correct me if im wrong, but isn't connecting to BREW making a data call? which theoreticly should be the same as connecting to wap...

Theoretically, yes. Cricket Clicks is accessing a WAP site (http://leap-prod-vip.qualcomm.com/). However they control the flow of data and if they wanted you to be able to access other sites, then it would be available. Until then, WAP is not available and at this current time, there are no plans to make it that way.

Also, here is an update for those who don't check the www.mycricket.com site or their retail store: Cricket now offers picture messaging and instant messaging (AIM) via text message. It's an extra 5 dollars a month, and like everything Cricket does, it's unlimited.

I looked into it, unfortanatly, the picture messaging is not available on the 8900. :-( not worth the 200 bucks to upgrade to the 8910 right now.
