Well I just ended my cell phone service with sprint(they are horrible) and I am very interested in the high tech japanese phones such as foma, docomo, and j-phone.(well the phone i really want is from foma) Well since I do live in the USA and dont visit Japan I was wondering if there is anyway I can get one of these phones to work here and with a service? I am a newb to this so can someone help and explain how I can get this to work.Can you explain steps to getting a japanese phone like Foma (the one I am most interested in... .well basically the one i only want) to work here?

I heard though if it was unlocked and had Gsm it was possible.

Not only are the phones from japan unlockable (they are either unlockable or freakishly hard to unlock), they wouldn't have the proper gsm bands. Trust me, if it was possible, you'd see some people on this forum with them

hmm ok...(-_-) i just love those foma phones!!!!!!!! Well im getting a new phone in may and it will be in the$200-$300 price range. I want a phone that is very nice, has awesome features (def. camera(and very nice nice nice quality pictures!), mabye video recording too, nice big color screen, and everything else, and i want one stylish as a foma phone( i know that is hard to find in america) and what service with it (has to be cheap and an awesome service- i hate sprint-)

ps. are there any cell phones in america that has video phone (where you see the person your talking to and they see you all live.)??

the only phones in america are the ones that are running on the trial wcdma network, they are not widely available yet

you asked if there were any videophones in america (as in actual live video between two people). The current US networks cannot handle such a feature but the wcdma phones on the trial att network can
