hello! i just bought an okwap i516 from taiwan to use with t-mobile over here in the US... but i dont know how to get it to work?

when i turn it on, it says "searching" and then it says "no service"... i dont know if it is locked or unlocked because i forgot to ask when i bought it.. i just assumed it was unlocked... but it might also just be the settings or something? i dont know!!

can anyone help please?? thank you!!

Have you tried looking at the network settings to see if you have to choose 1900mhz band? Not all triband phones switch to 1900 automatically.

yes i tried both... the 900/1800 and the 1900.. neither of them seem to work?? i get the same thing with both.. "no service"... i read something online where some one said u cant use them in the US.. but other ppl say u can.. ??? ah so confusing!

Maybe others might be able to help you if you provided more info of where you are/what service you're using.

There's a slim chance, you're only in a 850mhz service area, hence the phone definately won't work. But it should work in n.america... i have a friend with one (unlocked for sure) and it's working in canada no problems.

hmmm... well im in california.. and im trying to use it with t-mobile... i dunno if that helps though! shouldnt it be unlocked if i bought it directly from an okwap retail store?

i am experiencing the exact searching searching no service problem as well.

any luck in getting it working?

i had the phone working for less than 2 mins... never since.
