nokea 6255 from brazil-how to rechip? i got this cool camera phone that video tapes three minutes, has tons of games, does voice record(3 mins) as a ring tone, speaker phone, i mean it has the works and i was able to put it on verizon network. . . but when i asked them to transfer my phone book they couldnt do it and they couldnt find the phone either. they said since it is originally from brazil, it has to be rechipped. they said they would sell it in their store for about $400 and if i had more the sales guy would buy one. does anyone out there know where to rechip a phone and how much it would cost. it does show up on nokia website under brazil cell phones model 6255(i) w/o the i and it is the phone. HELP! it is the coolest phone! margaret

THANKS FOR DIRECTING ME TO THE CORRECT WEBSITES FOR THE MANUAL AND PHONE NUMBERS AND ETC...I CALLED AND GOT SO MUCH INFO THAT MY HEAD WAS SPINNING. TURNED OUT THAT NOKIA IS PROBABLY GOING TO ROLL OUT THAT MODEL IN THE USA WITHIN THE NEXT QUARTER EVEN IF NO PROVIDERS PICK IT UP. I AM REALLY GLAD I FOUND OUT THE INFO THAT I DID. I STILL DONT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT RECHIPPING BUT I DO KNOW NOW WHERE TO TURN WHEN I HAVE QUESTIONS LIKE THESE....MARGARET

Any luck on getting the phone to work?

MARGARET, can you tell me if you are able to adjust the ring profile with the outside buttons-- meaning can you put it on silent, etc without having to open the phone?
Thanks!

wordie-
I know I said it before, but I don't think it is possible. pressing the power button will bring up the profiles menu and you can scroll to a profile, but you cannot select a profile with the flip shut.
