I notice they have both the regular Treo 650 and the Sprint labeled one. If you order a 650 and keep your current plan does it come unlocked or do you have to call Sprint and activate it?

No, the Sprint version doesn't come unlocked.

I beleive it doesn't make a difference which way you order it, with a plan or without. You stil must call Sprint and activate the device once you receive it.

The GSM version of the Treo 650 is not available yet.

Yeah the photo of the 650 GSM version has been on the palmOne site since they introduced the sprint 650. Probably so that they dont have to update it when the GSM version is introduced. It Has nothing to do with which version is currently available.

Sometime before march hopefully :-) All sorts of dates have been tossed around ... no one knows for sure.

Thanks for the info, hopefully it will come out within the next 2 weeks.

There are 2 on ebay right now but the bids are for the unlocked Treo 650 to be shipped when it becomes available. The seller says it should be within the next few days but I wouldnt trust it.

I was thinking about switching to Sprint but I'll probably wait for the GSM version because its supposed to have EDGE capabilities.
