This may be obvious to many of you, but the fact that the phone is capable of playing back the file format in an amplified volume leads me to think that there is a simple firmware work around to get the phone to use AMR's as ringtones. Also, the fact that it can play amplified audio also makes me wonder why there isn't a mode to use the speaker as a speaker phone? Can anyone direct me to the latest firmware for T637 so I can see if I can do a little softmodding?

i am also interested in these facts.....i have messed around a little bit and i was able to change the .amr extension of a file to .mid, put the file on my phone and i could set it to my ringtone...but when i tried to play it, it wouldnt play...it gave the option to stop it like it was playing...but that was it. that leads me to the conclusion that the code that plays the midi files is completely seperate from the code that plays the amr files....i sure hope they come out with a descent firmware update for this thing!!

Make that 5. Phones nowadays really shouldn't be limited to such awful ringtones...

My guess is the amplified sound is for PTT since the t637 supports it.
But its kinda dumb to not include speaker phone...

the T616 and the T637 has AMR support... this is known for a fact.. check it by going into the secret menu ( >*<<*<*) go to service labels and then Configuration... it should read HR FR EFR AMR..
i doubt this is for AMR ringtones though as i beleive the AMR support is only for voice record and the ability for more clarity on the phone
