Originally posted by TTABBAL That's your problem there. Download the LAME dll. There is a link on the Audacity site. Then go into prefferences and tell it where you unzipped it. |

Originally posted by 3dmac Using Audacity, heres a quick howto: The sample rate needs to be set at 16000 @ 32bit mono. Audacity will let you change this from a stereo mp3 file. Import the mp3, set the project rate to 16000 ( from 44100 that is defalt) and choose "Quick Mix". This will blend both left and right channels together. Select the left channel and change it to mono. Delet the right channel. Edit the song to about 30sec. , this will keep the file size at between 76k to 108k when saved in mp3 format. Also pay attention to the level, when playing it. If it is to loud, reduce the out put level to -6db and resave it. Change the .mp3 to .mid and there you go. You are now ready to load your new ringtone to your phone. http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ Have Fun !! 3dmac

No wave in it but its there. SO How do I remove it so when I open it in Audicity I don't see that second mix track. |

Only the sound.dat file under/dload. ANd according to JTPRO his FAQ's say to delete the sound.dat file: Here is part of the step by step: To add ringtones to the phone: 1. Connect your data cable to the vx8000 (at the time of this writing, the vx6000 and vx7000 futuredial cables at radio shack worked). 2. load up QPST, in particular the EFS Explorer. 3. BACKUP and delete /dload/sound.dat 4. place .mp3 or .mid files into either of the following directories: /dload/snd/ /user/sound/ringer/ (you can create this folder if it doesn't exist) 5. reset the phone, the tones will be displayed in the ringtone section. *Supplied by JTPRO I see sounds both in /user/sound/ringer and /dload/snd So which Dir do I upload the ringtones to, for the /dload/snd dir or the /user/sound/ringer? Not sure if it matters? WHy do they have 2 dir for ringtones or music? DOes that FAQ supplied by JTPRO make sense or not? THanks so much for replying! |

Add to the user/ sound/ ringer/ folder. Then delete the brewringerindwx.map file in the Downlaod/dloadindex/ And reboot. 3dmac |

You can load directly off a cd and audio dvd. The standard audio files are ".mp3, .wav(windows audio), and .au ( cd audio)". 3dmac |
Thanks a lot!!
I ripped'em using WM Player.. and I'm trying to change the extension to MP3 via DOS [ Start - Run - CMD ] .. but what default format does WM Player rip CDs to?.. I tried .AU .WAV .CDA ... no dice!

By the way, if you're using bitpim to put these files on you vx6000, you don't need to change the extension to .mid. .mp3 works fine and .qcp makes it repeat (when the phone is ringing, not when you listen to it in my media/music. |

Does anyone have any ideas? Anything I might try different? I followed these steps: 1. Import mp3, pick clip, trim 2. Switch to 16000khz, quickmix 3. split tracks 4. delete left channel 5. Make channel that is still available into mono 6. Export as mp3 (64) 7. change file ext to .mid 8. upload to phone via bitpim and cable 9. try to play, no sound. |

Those changes will swink the outputed mp3 down to a size of 200kb or less for 30 seconds.
