Hi folks

I need some help getting my VX4400b (color screen) cell to work.

I am having big issues with getting my computer to recognize the phone when I connect the USB cable.

At first, I bought a straight cable from ebay... then after going through the bitmip help files, i found out that's the kind of cable that is NOT recommended.. i was able to get the USB cable to recognize and install drivers, but when I was uploading information, i would get error messages saying it couldn't communicate with the phone.

Fine, i went out to radioshack today and bought the recommended cable for the VX1/VX10. Bitmip help file said it works fine with the VX4400.

I just connected to both an XP and win2k machine and I am getting USB not recognized. Before, with the ebay straight cable, the phone would show that it is charging or charging complete whenever I connected it to the computer... but this radioshack cable doesn't make my phone do anything. In fact, the computer wil ldetect that a USB device is connected without even the phone connected to the cable.

Please give me some pointers... i went through alot of searched threads before having to post this thread.

Thank you.

I just purchased my first 4400 earlier this month and have been learning a LOT about it since then. Same day I received it I purchased the CORRECT Radioshack cable (it pays to do your research BEFORE a purchase) and downloaded the drivers. About an hour after I first held the phone in my hand I was transferring wallpapers and ringtones. Heres what I did.

First, Get the driver for your cable.

Second, Install the driver. When it tells you it's incompatible with XP or whatever, don't freak out, tell it to continue anyway, it WILL work.

Last, Plug in the phone and cable, start Bitpim, configure Bitpim (Im not going into that, theres plenty of online help available) and play around with it.

Oh, and don't change anything unless you have made a backup copy of it first just in case you screw up somehow...it can happen.
