My Mitsubishi M900 preview:)

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: Ben555

Hi this is my first time here and I would like to present you the preview of my M900

I got this phone for 750 SING dollars and that's equal to 400 USD, that's cheap

The set comes with a travel charger, 32 MB mini SD card in the adapter and two user menus(one quick reference and one detailed)

The phone is quite big and it's 125grams.
It feels quite light in my hands

The phone fits very well into my hands and my hands should be considered medium sized(Perhapes I should post a photo of my hands holding the M900

The flip is very tight at the first use
But it's easy to open and close from my experience:moon:
There is a click when the flip is open or closed

The phone balance very well from my experience once it's open

Now for some of the pictures that I had taken with my digital camera
I hope you enjoy the pictures

Posted by: Ben555

This LCD in the M900 is a TFD(Thin Film Diode) type with 18bit(262,144 or 262K colors) in a QVGA resolution(as similer to a Sharp's)
The phone has an external LCD which is also a TFD kind, it's having 16bit(65,536 or 65K) colors in a resolution of 128X160, it's very good from my opinion.

The most interesting part of the phone is the camera
Although it's not a true 2 mega pixel camera, it still can capture great shots.
Check out the shots at 1.3 mega pixels

Overall, this phone is very good and I'm satisfied with it
It's a very good camera and phone all in one light pakage

The camera can produce stunning 2 mega pixel result besides it having an effective pixels of 1.3

The display is smooth and colorful
You can adjust contrast settings and brightness settings too So far I did not come across phones having both contrast and brightness settings for the LCD In this M900, you can also adjust the external LCD

Design of the phone is strong and I had no problems with it so far, I find it's easy to clean too
The camera lens is protected by a slider when not in use and that has so far save me from cleaning it while photo taking

Feel free to ask more questions, I'll be more than ready to answer them

Enjoy more pictures below.

I have already posted some photos captured at 2 mega pixels above
The menu is fine, and it's faster than my K700i's
Let other members come in here and post their shots from their phones
And finally there are no restrictions at all
Welcome

are the pics after

"This is not a true 2 mega pixel camera phone, but look at the result, they're stunning don't you agree?"

2mp shot ones?

Finally I had captured at 2 mega pixels
Hope you like them

It can use MP3 as ringting tones?
Also for SMS tones?

And you cannot add words to the T9 dictionary, right?

How's the sound quality of conversations? Loud like Samsungs? and of ringting tones? and of speakerphone?

Quote_____________________________________________ __

You can set MP3 for alarms, message alerts, and call alerts
I did heard that the phone can learn new words
I never use dictionary to text :moon:
The sound quality during calls are excellent from my experience, there is a loudspeaker feature
The phone speaker is loud like Samsung's
The ringtones are really loud
I suggest you don't set to the max volume because the speaker will crack
I hope that I had help you

Very much so.. Thanks alot..

Does it have a LED on front, and does this function as service indicator? does it have more than one color?
and flash differently during calls or when you receive a sms?
When receive sms's does it continue to flash until you have read them?

Can you minimize the mp3 player so you can continue to use the phone while you still listen to music? Does the phone lag when you do this?

Could you take a picture of it besides some of your phones, if you have others?

Man, I owe you many beers now..

Yes, the phone has a service LED(Light Emitting Diode) on the front portion of the flip
So far I noticed that it has a color of green, red and orange.
I believe that red is to indicate that it does not have a line and green if it does have a line
Orange is when you're charging
The LED will blink during the standby of the phone and on fulltime while charging
I had turned off the service LED to save power so I didn't know if it will blink or not when you had an SMS or missed call
You can't minimise the MP3 player
I'll try to post more photos(currently I'm searching for servers )
Couldn't seems to find any appropriete ones yet
I do not want to depend on www.mobile-review.com/forums anymore...
I shall keep you well informed

Thanks again, man...

Does it have active flip?

And would you be able to temporarily turn on the LED to see how it behaves when you got incoming calls and sms's. and if you have missed calls/unread sms's?

I'm actually a Malaysian and I don't live in SG, however I had went there for Christmas and at the same time brought the M900
I brought it from a store in Ochard road(I'm not sure what's the name)
Actually the phone cost 750 Sing dollars -A very good Christmas gift

Yes, it does have an active flip and you can disable it
The LED will function like Samsung's(More or less the same)(It virtually informs you of anything like charging etc...)

I hope I had been a help

Yeah too bad they got no quick reply
Glad to have you here with your M900

We faithful gotta stick together
I used to be "reading" a forum thread somewhere that I found on gsmarena, where there are many m900 users. I think the forum was in singapore or something. Got kinda tired of it, because there was like 50 new posts every day with nothing to add...

How is malaysia?
My friend who is living with me and my gf, is going to Malaysia in March...

In Malaysia we have sunny weathers and it gets rather hot here at 30 degrees C or more
We also have heavy down pours even when it's still sunny
So there are many rainbows here
You will like malaysia
Expecially you're from Norway, that's a pretty cold place am I right?
Once you step into Malaysia's tropical climate, you will feel different
I certainly felt different when I went to Vancover and felt the cold there:moon:
Btw, I'm also in the M900's dicussions at GSMarena(Not in the forum) but in the users opinions and feedbacks area of the M900

Posted by: bufodill

Yeah, I've seen you writing in the user oppinions. You use different signatures all over though...

I kinda figured how the climate is in Malaysia, it was more of a gesture of asking how you are doing, and how you like it there...

I'd love to join my friend there, but school is keeping me home. This summer I will probably go to shanghai/Hong Kong (been there before) and Hainan (a southern chinese island).

Too much off topic though, I should rather just add you to some sort of instant messenger...

Do you experience the problem of having to add a number twice to have the name shown both when a person calls, and when the person sends you messages? Or do all traffic (both calls and messages) go either WITH country code, or without country code in Malaysia?

I think this is very annoying, that calls in Norway are not marked with country codes, but all messages is... this way, I need to have numbers stored both with and without. Never had this problem on other phones...

Posted by: Ben555

I never had any problems with my M900 so far, maybe it's because I didn't use it too much
So far it's a great phone and I'm liking it very much

Posted by: Ben555

I had considered rivals of this phone to be the Samsung SGH-D500 and the Sony Ericsson S700i...But none of them ever come close to the M900.
This M900 can capture fantastic macro shots, you can see some of them taken by me in my review, you will be in awe. You can set white balance settings and sharpness controls as well, they are very reliable and works the way they should, I'm impressed. There is a photo mode settings that enables you to take scenery shots to night shots, this mode will make sure that you had used the fullest potentials of the M900's camera, I'm never in short of words of it. The phone's camera has a 10X digital zoom that fully use the ability of the 1.3MP CCD image sensor, when you had zoomed up to 10X in the smallest resolution, the image will still be clear because it's been enlarged to the capability of the 1.3 mega pixel sensor with that image in particuler, cropped out(an example only), it's a very smart solution I must say. The camera has a build in photo LED(light emitting diode) to light up the area of shot in a dark situation and a warning LED to indicate that a shot is being focused. I like the wide angle of the acromatic Fujinon lens, it's broader than the lens on most camera phones from my experience. The lens protector is broad and it's made of glass(This is a very ideal protection)on the other hand, there's an active slider to really protect the camera lens when not in use(it's an active slider because the camera will be activated upon opening it).

This is only the considerably detailed camera review of the M900.

i might be able to get the m900 for $530 USD (total) from a trusted seller.. anyone thinks this is a good price?

Posted by: heyfattony

The cheapest I've found is here . Its only slightly cheaper. They had it at $499 2 days ago and then it went up again. Im trying to decided whether i should try and hold out until the price gets a little cheaper or to buy it now.

Posted by: h412121501V

fattony.. is mobile fly a well trusted site to purcharse from??

Posted by: heyfattony

well I've heard nothing but good things about it. I plan to buy mine off them in the next few days. The only other place i could see to buy one was off Plemix.com but Id trust mobile fly more, and mobilefly are cheaper.

Posted by: h412121501V

fattony. i got good news.. i contacted mobilefly., and they nicely told me that the 500 dollar 1 day offer deal will come back on jan 24.. but still keep an eye out for any other days that might go cheaper.. post here for the prices or anyone else who knows a cheaper price

How does this phone compare to the Sharp TM-200 besides what can be seen side by side on phonescoop.com

Which has the better camera/takes better pictures?

What gsm provider in america can you use the M900 on, Cingular or Tmobile, or both?

Tmobile Nationwide, with cingular, you can only use it in markets with 1900mhz

Hjorten: offcourse you can activate active flip...

Is there any clamshell phones that does not support this? I've never had one, but maybe it is...

Posted by: braindead5400

The Sharp GX32 does not have active flip

Exactly.. Nor does my Pantech G500.. And I've had others too that didn't have this..

Posted by: bufodill

Ok...
I've only had two clamshells, and both suported active flip. Though I've never actually bothered to use it before, because they have not supported to dismiss the conversation from the outside of the phone. The last one I had, I could mute the call signal from the outside, but not dismiss it... But on the m900, you can, so now I use active flip

Posted by: braindead5400

The M900 has dropped to $543 on ebay. Unfortunately its from the same seller that I ordered mine and he hasn't even shipped it yet.

Posted by: h412121501V

i check b2global prices for m900 daily.. i did maybe 3 days ago saw you made a purcharse somewhere at 592.. that really sucks.. i think you are able to get like a refund for the amount he dropped..

Hi!

I didnt get any computer cable.

I tried to get one but noone had it.

Posted by: Johni

has anyone tried m900 on the rogers network in toronto or anywhere that has rogers network?...really wanna know b4 i buy it becuz ppl say it cant make outgoing calls on rogers network

Posted by: h412121501V

Sunq, there is a data cable, only in China though.. i don't have a card reader so i need a new way of trasnfering.. who cares i'll probably end up buying a sd card reader..

What do you mean your sim doesn't fit? Mine does. All you have to do is slide the sim card into the slot in the back, you have to push a little to get it all the way up

Speaking of which, I just got my phone. All I have to say is wow, its big. I knew it was large but its much bigger than I thought it would be. It looks like a beast next to my other phones. I still dunno if I like it though, the mp3 ringtones aren't very loud and I have to judge the camera tomorrow.

Posted by: h412121501V

sry braindead.. i should of read the manual first.. lmfao.. sorry.. one question how do i put my pictures for the caller id.. like when i have a my father call me, how do i put his picture on my external caller id when he calls??

ya ****.. its freakin huge.. i wish i had wait for inno a11..

Posted by: braindead5400

Go to your phone book, select a name so that all the info comes up, scroll to picture, hit ok, go to the 1st icon, hit ok, then options then camera. Seems overly complicated to me. I'm not sure if I want to keep this phone. It may be replaced by the sharp TM200 soon

Posted by: h412121501V

argh.. i had to delt all my sim card phonebook in order to do this..

Posted by: h412121501V

hmm.. this vibration on the m900 is worse than my 2 previous phone, t722.. LOL i its a slight tickle when you have in your pants.. hmm ^^.. jking

Why? all you had to do was copy them all to the phone, and then select phone only in the phonebook settings. That way the SIM entries would still be there but the phonebook wouldn't display everything twice

Posted by: h412121501V

aww.. i should of thought of that.. i'm not the best with using phones.. grr

Posted by: braindead5400

I'll make my final decision tomorrow, I really don't know if I want to keep it or not. If I don't then I guess I'll go for a TM200 or a N840

what is the N840?

some say the M900 is better then sharps tm200. i tink its just whichever you have, you want the other.

The n840 is a 2mp quadband nec phone

ah I think I've seen it on a Canadian phone seller site.

How come Toronto and Canada have all the outfits selling unlocked import phones etc.?

ATT used to have NEC and Pana phones but now that they are with cingular i dont know if they are getting any models from those brands. 2 brands i'm interested in.

Also Mitsu is nice but seem to not make many phones which kind of makes the M900 more special but alas it doesnt' have bluetooth like its highly compared to competition the Sharp TM-200

I'm trying to figure out what phone is worth importing but at this point withe Moto Mpx-300 slated for next month in teh U.S. for cingular I might wait for that and switch my sprint to Cingular and keep vzw for EV-DO when they get better phones that can make use of it. hoping to trade my v710 for the E815 which is basically the same phone with added EV-DO and other minor improvements.
