The CSPs (like Verizon, Cricket, etc) disable or "cut" some features (ie: a non BREW enabled CSP, disables BREW on the phone so the customers don't make questions about it, another example is Verizon that disabled EMS on the 8600, etc). This is why some people (like me) wants the original firmware and not the CSP firmware on the phone. AFAIK the only CSP which needs a different firmware is Sprint, if you use the original firmware, the WAP browser won't work (the other features will work) but I have never confirmed this. |
