How long did your "activation" period take???

I'm currently on hour 5. I know it says it could take up to 48 hours, but I thought it normally takes between 1-3.

I hate to pester customer service, but could something be wrong?

How long did yours take?

Well my activation took just about 8 hours but I did mine online through letstalk.com. Not sure if they held it up for some reason but they have an automated system that tells you of the status and it was stuck in 'Activating with Carrier' for almst an entire workday, which was after the credit check and phone number assignment. Needless to say I worried myself but in the end it worked out just fine.

Mine took over 48 hours. I called about 6 hours into activation to see and they dismissed me and told me to wait 48 hours. They did however tell me to hit Menu+L to bypass the activation screen to use the phone (worthless since I have a data only plan). I called again today, 48hours to the dot, and my conversation went exactly like this.

Me: Hi I bought a sidekick II days ago and its still stuck on the activation screen.

Rep: Ok I can help you with that, is it a sidekick I or II.

Me: II

Rep: Ok, I see what the problem is, they enabled you for an internet account, not the specific Sidekick account. I've made the changes for you.

Me: Ok, do you know how long this will take?

Rep: Should take a couple of hours, but it could take 24.

10 minutes later it was working, and roughly 3 hours later my desktop jump page was active on mytmobile.

If I were you, I'd call and make sure they enabled you for the proper service agreement so you dont end up like me.

Now that it works I'm amazed at the functionality... Danger done good with this one

Wow, I bought my sidekick, 15 mintues later I went home, put the charger in, it turned on, saw the activation screen, typed my info in, and I was done... I wonder why it takes you guys so long, and by the way I live on hawaii

here in AZ it was like the one above me. Drove home and plugged it in and voila time to register...

My friend who bought one a couple of days earlier had the same story as you guys; It was almost instant. I suppose, however, if they had provisioned my account properly in the first place and not blown me off the first time I called customer service I would have had the same experience. But I didn't... Kind of sucks when you call up the first time and get told to wait 48 hours dismissively, then call back after the 48 hours and have a working phone in less than 10 minutes due to a simple error on their part.

With that being said, people make mistakes and after seeing what this phone can do it's just water under the bridge now.

Kind of makes me regret reuping with verizon for another 2 years... Yep... Me and my crippled v710.

My experience was similary to guitar7272's. I brought my SKII on 1/21, called in that evening and the rep only put me on for the sms portion (don't know how that was going to play itself out).

Now the booklet inside the box said it could take as long as 48 hours but could be 1 to 3 hours.

Waited all darned day Saturday until the 24 hour mark, still nothing. Called to check to make sure there weren't any outtages and that they had the correct plan for me. Told by that rep, "everything is in order"

Called Sunday morning while approaching the 36 hour mark and the rep that answered (I wish there was a way to get her noticed for her service because it was in my opinion exceptional) looked back into the last history calls and saw that the initial rep didn't configure it right in the first place. She then told me to reboot and wait about an hour or so but to still give it 48 hours.

Right after rebooting the device I was on my way to activation. A friend of mine who just got his only days before I did had no problems with his activation. It's gotta be the reps...some know what they are doing and some can't think their way out of a paper bag!
