here in the SF Bay area, a place is offering an unlocked P910a for $549US out the door ($799 - $200 credit - $50 for family plan) for me to switch from AT&T to Cingular (1 year contract). The question is, is this a good deal? I'm going to be in HK soon, can the unit be gotten in HK for $4200HK or less? Or for that matter, can the P910a even be found in HK?

I wanted to hold out for a quad band equivalent or even the S710a, but since neither seems readily available for a while here in the US and since my T616 is not functioning too well for me at the moment....

I'm sorry i don't have an aswer to your question, but i was wondering if you could share where in SF you can buy the P910a for that price? For me that seems a pretty good price, I'm having a heck of a time finding it for under $750.

Hong Kong won't have the P910a....they will just have the P910i. I believe the P910a is kept in the U.S. warehouses.

If it's with contract, that it's not really a good deal.

I am pretty sure that you will not find a P910a in Hong Kong and also the average price of a P910i in Hong Kong is $5500HKD (same price for offical SE stock with warranty or "waterfall" stock) ...$4200HKD is only for a P900 in HK now.....beware that P910a will not work very well in Mainland China (I have tried on a MPx200 without 900MHz) since most of the Mainland China still has 900MHz but not 1800MHz coverage. Also if you are using CSL, Smartone or Orange (3 dualband) network then you might not want to have a P910a since these 3 networks in HK still has some areas are 900MHz coverage. Personally I think is not that great of a deal coz I just got one without a contract for $650US, I guess is up to you if you wanted to save the 100 dollars for the 1 year contract =D. Hope it helps and nice trip to HK!

Good thing I'm never stepping foot in China so I will never worry about that and when I go back to Taiwan, they have good 1800 so I won't have to worry.
