have a question about this phone....here's the thing my sister has a this phone and what happened is that a few months ago she was in a rainstorm and it got wet in her pocket so the phone started acting weird. took it to verizon they took out the battery and the litmus paper changed so they wouldn't do anything. Well switched her to one of my spare fones and I've been tinkering with her 8600 ever since. I have since gotten it to turn on and off the sound works and I can scroll through the menus....problem being it seems to be constantly searching system on the screen and outer display....any idea how I could possibly get this thing back up and running ? any ideas would be appreciated

I had the 8600 (junk, sorry) and it got wet and a very similar thing happened. I took off the battery and let it sit a month and it worked "ok" after that. Never worked as it originally did, but I had no choice. It would only get a day or two of stand-bye, bad connections, etc. So I ended up using my V60c and 3589I for a while.

Bye the way, how do you like the phone book on that phone? That's got to be the worst phone book I've ever used!!!

It sounds to me like you fixed the phone completely and you just need to call Verizon and get it reprogrammed and to get her account reactivated.

If you don't get the phone to work properly, I may be interested in getting it from you. Check out my thread: http://www.howardforums.com/showthr...threadid=525224

I see you didn't like the 8600. I currently have this and am not thrilled about it. You also list the Nokia 3589i. Would you rate the Nokia a better phone? Any reason why or why not?

Your help is appreciated. thanks.
