RIM filed on Dec 23 for 45 days confidentiality on images of the device.

Product label clearly shows the 7250.

It appears to be a CDMA Version of the 72xx.

With BLUETOOTH.

Is this the device rumored to work on Verizon's EV-DO network?

Posted by: DarrenGuy

Didn't see anything for EV-DO.

The 7250 is has a tentative roll out date of 2/1 on Verizon. Yes it has bluetooth, but only for headsets and some custom devices. It will launch only with 1xrtt, but it has EV-DO in it. It can be turned on with a subsequent software update from RIM. Will support tethering with usb cable, but not bluetooth.

If thats the accurate information for features and release date, I defintely will get it in a heart beat!

I've read that the CDMA Blackberry are slow. Any chance that'll change with this new model? Also, is Verizon expected to lower their Blackberry plans to be competitive with T-Mobiles $20 per month pricing for unlimited?

Posted by: torikaraage

The new unit is faster than the older versions. Apparently, they are using a new chipset. Performance did seem a bit snappier as I was using it. Not sure about pricing, though. Probably won't go as low as T-mobile.

7250 release (at least on the West Coast) is delayed. No word as to when or why. Was supposed to have hit the B2B channels end of the month.

Verizon? Delaying a BlackBerry?
Say it ain't so....

Posted by: jwkde

will it have the full size BB keyboard or the new scaled down verison. I like the full size BB keyboard.

I keep calling VZW business sales rep and he keeps hearing Feb 1 also

Posted by: NJBlackBerry

As you can see from the picture here, the 7250 uses the 7200 form factor (which makes sense) and is a full sized keyboard, with a black casing. Just like the 7290.

Funny....Verizon sales reps are usually the last to know anything about new equipment or release dates. They're usually totally useless with this kind of info!

Posted by: NJBlackBerry

And I read (today) on another forum that it was delayed until the end of February! Or February 11th. Or Tuesday. Take your pick

Verizon: Can you hear me know? AGGGHHHHHHHH

I have been trying to discover if the 7250 will or will not have EV DO. Some say it has the hardware but lacks the software. There also seems to be confusion as to whether it now includes a browser or not. Is there anyone with authoritative information that is reliable? I note that the RIM and Blackberry sites don't even list it and the Verizon business channel that does list it says nothing about EV DO.

Posted by: jwkde

I just got my 7250 from VZW -running on our corporate BES and it is great.

Not sure I really understand EVDO. I do have a 1X icon on the top row.

Posted by: barjohn

The 1x will change to EV when you are in an EV support area and the unit has the software added to support it (assuming it has the hardware). I was on with tech support at BB yesterday and they didn't know.

Posted by: Verizon Geek

It does include the browser and the evdo chipset. But it does not have the software to run evdo yet. There will be an update coming for it.

Posted by: barjohn

Sounds good. Do you have an approximate date?

Is it built into the new CDMA chipset that this phone uses? How do you know this? I notie that Verizon has not advertised that it will be available.

Posted by: Verizon Geek

Yes, it has the release c chipset and no I don't have an E.T.A on the new software. They are not advertising evdo for it because it is not available at this time.

Does anyone know when this Verizon 7250 will be available to regular consumers?

Posted by: Verizon Geek

Feb 1th

Posted by: T. Biggums

thanks!

Posted by: T. Biggums

By the way, any idea as to Verizon's offering of a 7100 form Blackberry? If so, do you a rough time frame of when we could actually see this?

Posted by: Verizon Geek

I have yet to see nor hear any info on that. That doesn't mean they aren't, but i don't see it happening anytime soon.

Posted by: bperkins

Verizon Geek.....thanks for your input. I was told the browser would not be available until VZW is running BES 4.0 any truth to this? Do you know if it is possible to have the browser if you are not on a BES?
