Hey all,

I am headed back to Best Buy to exchange my present MPx220 for one that HOPEFULLY will 1) sync via BT w/ activesync, 2) enable file transfer with PC using BT, 4) not display "Alert... The page you are looking for cannot be found." every time I launch IE <if I could figure out how to change the startpage I guess that would go away, but I cannot> 3) have clear, clean sound--not distorted--from earpiece/speaker at higher volumes AND MAYBE, JUST MAYBE have the fabled 1.7 or 1.9 SW version.

Could those of you who have purchased your phones at BB recently and have already gone back to make an exchange or two please answer any or all of the following Q's:

1) input *#**837# and press SEND, tell me if you have a newer SW or HW version than mine (below)

SW Ver.: 1.030-0
HW Ver.:0006
HW Build Info.:4

Why, though, does SW Ver found on sticker, behind battery, says .342???

2) when you return the 1st phone, do you commence a new 30 day return policy or are you limited by the initial purchase date?

3) did your phone come locked?

It was posted elsewhere (by wolf55?) that the newest units were indeed locked at BB...

I want to be prepared and know what to look for on arrival.

dunno about other questions, but thirty day return policy is TECHNICALLY from initial purchase date...HOWEVER!!!

if you return your current 220, then turn around and buy a NEW 220, then it's 30 days from new purchase date

takes more time, means you have to wait in line to return, get your refund, then turn around and wait in line to get a new one, then wait in line to check out, but there's no question about return policy

Thanks, jhebert. Your solution, however, would cost me an additional $50 based on today's price of the phone ($199 then, $249 now). Hopefully I will get what I want on the first try. Next time you go into work, please see if you can find answers to the other Q's as well...

The following is what wolf55 said in another post, in another forum:

"Now this 1.03 hardware which has also the 1.30 rom FIRMWARE on it and is read this clearly LOCKED!!!!!!! I had to get mine unlocked (for free from cingular). So what is the 1.03 it is the the newest hardware that came always came with 1.3rom, meaning it wasn't a .325 or .342 that was just reflashed."

I'm wondering if he is incorrect about the 1.03 hardware statement... it seems far off from my HW Ver 6 AND more importantly corresponds to the info found in my SW Ver. I dunno anymore, so many conflicting reports.

cant help ya on the other stuff bro, in alaska we dont carry the mpx220 ;p but if you piss and moan enough 100% of our customer service reps will give in if you try within 30 days of new phone because it's not actually STATED anywhere... but i didnt mention any of this
