BlackberryCool.com has reviewed the beta version of Pocket Express for RIM. Palm users should be already familiar with the Pocket Express software because it has won numerous awards.

The full review with screenshots is here: http://blackberrycool.com/?p=21

Summary:

The Good
* Stock Feature, easy to keep track of your portfolio.
* Quicker than using the Blackberry Browser.
* Movie times work for both American and Canadian theatres.
* User-friendly interface.

The Bad
* Subscription based program at $6.99 a month or $69.90 a year.
* Only one news source.
* Some features like news and sports scores are easily retrieved through your Blackberry Browser for free.

Was never too impressed with this, it's nothing a simple RSS reader can't do. Add Berry411 and you get a free alternative.

The basic version of Pocket Express you describe here is actually free these days. There is an enhanced version that requires the subscription price you describe (concierge service, mapping, etc.) It's more convenient than RSS and faster download than web portals on most networks.

"nothing a simple RSS reader can't do", I know this is an old post BUT:

Can a RSS reader:

Convert currency
Locate your local movie theaters and return the current showings
Give you your flight status
Track your stock portfolio

??

Okay, skip the stock portfolio part :-) Okay, skip the air travel part ;-). Pocket Express does the other stuff really well...
