I have had 2 1.3 firmware phones one the earpiece speaker (not the speakerphone speaker) started to crackle on me but i think that is partly my fault cuz when you put the phone on outdoor profile (LOUD setting)and you put the earpiece volume all the way up the voice regoniton beeps are ear deafening and that might have blown the speaker, but the second on I got has no problems, but i made sure to keep the earpiece and sound system values low (changed them for all profile settings). But Here are 2 other tidbits

There are 2 voulume setting a lot of people are unaware of this now here are there exact names and excatly what they do.

1. "Earpiece volume" when not on a call you can access this by just press the volume button on the side of the phone up or down. All this controls is the volume of you system sounds, like confirmation click sound, and all the voice recognition sounds, I also believe that it might slightly affect your ringtone voulume level, but have not confirmed this.

2. "Call volume" now this one I believe eludes people because you can ONLY access it while actually on a phone call (again with the side voulume buttons), see now I think that a lot of people don't put this on maxium and that is why the have such a hard time hearing, give it a try let me know how it goes.

my setting I put my phone on outdour with all the settings to vibrate and ring (at same time) and all setting to "LOUD (number 5)" except for system soud with I put to 1 and then just crank up the "earpiece" voulme to max.

keep in mind all these setting only work this way (so far as I know, cuz i havent tested other settings)on the 1.3 firmware

Please guy contribute and post your results using this stuff to see if it really helps

thank

howl back at me!!!

wolf55, you exchanged your phone recently at BB, right? So still 1.3 vers, but what about hardware ver? (input *#**837#<SEND>)

Black dot on box? And did you not mention it was locked but you were able to get Cingular to unlock it for free? Have you been with them for over 90 days, is that the requirement? Please advise.

Thanks,
Drew

I read this on an amazon.com review for mpx220 when I was researching the phone...not sure how true this is:

"5. Phone is unlocked and can be used w/ other overseas SIMs when traveling. All Cingular world GSM phones are unlocked per Cingular Business Customer Service."

Pre-merger that was true. When the stock of unlocked phones is depleted all Cingular phones will be locked.

I swear on my mother's death that my phone was locked!!! How come no one believes us locked mpx220 users.

My info:

SW Ver:1.030-0
Nov 16 2004-12:11:54
HW Ver.:0006
Os Build No.: 1088
HW Build Info.: 4

I've been with cingular over 1 year, but I believe that they have to unlock any of their cingular branded phones no matter whether or not you are a customer of theres, especailly if you payed full price for it. It your right as a customer of the phone, you didn't take their rebates so they can't with hold it from you, I am sure a lawsuit would hold that up in court, so if they are smart then they would unlock phones for non cingular customers, because read this: Motorola does not have unlock codes they are set by the software given to the carriers, so if you can't get it unlocked by motorola whom you technically have the contract with if you bought it full price, then I believ cingualr is obligied to give it to you. Either way just send an email to simunlockcode@cingular.com don't mention any of the above, just give them your imei# and tell them you are travelling abroad to a country and want to use a prepaid sim card and I bet you they give it to you no questions asked. I bet they don't even check whether or not you are a cingualr customer, but better do it soon before they catch on to the scheme.

peace

yes I got black dot on box I believe that means either one of 2 things:
1. that the phone locked, or

2. that the phone was not a reflashed phone, meaning that the first firmware installed on it was the 1.3 Or 1.03 (which i belive are the same, just a typo of sorts).

or it could all not reflashed phone are the locked ones, thus meaning both 1 & 2 at the same time.
